My travel bucket list...

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I have traveled extensively recently but there are still loads of places I would love to visit if time and money permitted...here is my top 10! Anyone been to the following? Worth it?

In no Particular order

1) Antartica-I like nature, don't like cold but would do it because it looks fascinating!

2) Iceland- Nature, not too far away looks exotic!

3) Greece/Greek Islands-Always was on my list!

4) South Korea- I dunno why just seems interesting

5)Vietnam/Thailand/Cambodia- Can do in one trip? Angor Wat looks neat along with Phucket!

6) South Africa- Capetown I hear is incredible and would like to see the wineries and go on a Safari.

7) China- Want to see Terracotta Warriors, The Wall, Get some Dim Sum

8) Australia-Been there but haven't been to Ayers Rock, Perth also want to go back to Tasmania as I spent half a day in Hobart only!

9) Japan- Been to Tokyo and Kyoto loved it. Want to go to Sopporo/Fukukoa..maybe now is not the best time???

10) Costa Rica/Panama and Cartagena- nature, history and warm weather!

Greenland?! Wow cool...going on a cruise? Flights seemed infrequent and pricey to Greenland. How long will you be there?

We're flying from Reykjavik to Kulusuk, Greenland (2hrs.) We're in Iceland for two weeks, only one day in Greenland unfortunately. If we had another week it would have been great to tack on a week in Greenland.

I've been to Cambodia, Thailand, Colombia - a few days to a week in each place - and I spent three weeks in Tasmania last spring. Cartagena is a fun place but has gotten incredibly touristy; I liked Bogota much better. Tasmania has possibly some of the best natural, untouched beauty on the planet and is amazing for hiking. And Angkor Wat is Angkor Wat - stunning.

Feel free to PM me if you want more info on any of these places.

Nice...out of all those you have a favorite?

If booking soon I personally would lean towards Cambodia and Thailand as I haven't really done much traveling in Asia.

South Korea is OK, not all that different or unique from other Asian countries. Food's pretty good, esp the bbq.

China is pretty fascinating. All of it. Highly recommended. Best to know someone to take you around, though.

Jeju Island looked appealing and I want to tour the DMZ zone. Seoul I heard is beyond spotless and has a fun night scene and great eating....MMMMM BBQ!

I also am an independent traveler but for China I heard from multiple sources to go with a guide and I think I would do that in China.

I love all my travel babies the same. :lol

On the Thailand/Cambodia trip we also went to Laos, and that's probably one of my favorite places I've ever been to. We did that trip in about two and a half weeks and it felt very rushed, so I wouldn't recommend trying to do the SE Asia countries together unless you have at least a month or so.

I'm hoping to go to Vietnam next February, never been.

Italy is all I got.

I would love to travel more and Iceland sounds beautiful.

No matter where you go, you now are obligated to post full reports of each and every place that you go. With pictures!

  • I'd like to take my mom to the old country (Poland) and visit the town of ~100 which shares her maiden name.
  • Machu Picchu would be awesome.
  • Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece have always appealed to me... don't think either place is terribly safe these days. :(
  • The idea of traveling to an Asian country without a native speaker terrifies me. But beyond that, I'd love to visit China, Hong Kong & Japan.
  • Would love to go on an African safari and witness my own
  • My wife somehow thinks an Alaskan cruise would be a dream trip, but I have a hard time understanding the appeal.

I had a history teacher in college that drilled it into our heads weekly that if you do nothing else in this world, you have to visit Machu Picchu. He was so convincing it has stuck with me. Hope to do it someday.

Machu Picchu is pretty amazing. I did the four-day Inca trail hike and got really, really sick, but it was still (perhaps more so, with the fever?) a thing to behold.

Do it now before it becomes too regulated/ungodly expensive.

I'd love to see Machu Picchu, but I'm never going above 6000 feet ever again.

Went last year! It was awesome! The scenry to and from was as well. Cusco is also a fabulous Incan city and a great base for other day trips too. Add it to your list. The only negative is it is starting to get very very crowded. My suggestion is to get there early early! I arrived at the gates at 5am and had a few hours with just a few people around before the tourist rush of the day started. Still some of the greatest views in the world!

Appreciate the offer, but it really is a tiny little speck on the map near the Ukranian border. We just recently found out about it; not sure (highly unlikely) if any distant relatives live there.

wow that is close to the border. the nearest town, Przemysl, is fairly sizable so might be a logical place to look for distant relatives.

Anyway, if you ever take steps to make this a reality, my offer stands.
