Albert Tatlock
Had not seen this before and a 'deeper' than usual sort of interview ...Only a few thousand views on YouTube so I hope worth publicising here."Made during the promotion of A Ghost Is Born" Now wash your hands. uncool2pillow
He seems to be aging more now that he's living cleanly. Weird. Could just be the beard and hair.
smells like flowers
Thanks for posting -- I really enjoyed that. Especially the last few minutes where he talks about the listener making the music what it is, bringing the meaning and beauty out of an inanimate object like a record or CD. "Half of it's you, half is me."
Magnetized
I've watched this interview many times and I'm always struck by how forthcoming and sweet Jeff is. He seems genuinely relaxed and mellow and really motivated to communicate in a direct and sincere way. He just radiates warmth and a touching desire to connect. Not even a touch of the famed Tweedy crankiness.
worldrecordplayer
Excellent interview. As usual. What struck me: "Tbe thing that surprised us most about YHF is how much better it sounded when we learned how to play it live.". I agree! I've had this discussion repeatedly with many people for whom YHF is the pinnacle. I always say those songs sound much better live. I'm glad Tweedy agrees.

Not even a touch of the famed Tweedy crankiness. He does seem to be unusually unguarded and sincere, without any sarcasm or the least bit of snarkitude. I wonder if all the intervening years of answering interviewers' dumb repetitive questions have just taken their toll?

I wonder if all the intervening years of answering interviewers' dumb repetitive questions have just taken their toll?I thought the same thing. Maybe the interviewer's questions were fresher at the time than they would be now. Also, wouldn't this have been shortly after the stint in rehab? Maybe he was just feeling especially open at that point in his life. Whatever, it's one of my favorite interviews, and thanks to Mrs. Slocombe's Pussy for posting it.
