bböp
I know I'm getting old and all shows blend into one, but didn't I hear "One By One" in Hartford or Mass MoCA? Nope.
Bosco
Nope. Ya, I was just reminded it was on the ride home, like I said, old!
Sweet Melinda
Ohhhh, now I want One By One in Rochester. Good idea! Ain't gonna happen though.
barbkm
Regarding the crowd,I was in the pit between John and Pat.. there was some stage stormers who kind of got in the otehrs way. Then there was a little fight...(at a Wiclo show?!?!?!?!?). Then all calmed down. By the end when the pit filled up, it was pretty cool. The floor was moving which was cool. But there were a few tense moments early on.

Dmada
I loved this show. Great venue, great crowd, great sound and of course a great band! Yeah it did get kind of rowdy down front, at first security was letting people just walk up to the front, then they got wise. Of course the bushnell holds a special place in my heart as I have seen many great shows there going back to the mid 80s, so I am a bit biased. I liked T5 setlist better, but I really loved the reserved seat spectacular sound no hassle free parking tailgate in the rain experience of the bushnell.
Yaz Rock
RE: stage-crashing - There were also a bunch of empty seats in the first few rows right up until Wilco started.. So some folks took advantage of that, and then in the 2nd or 3rd song, some dudes showed up, beers in hand, claiming their seats. I remember my first show at Town Hall, 1999 (or was it the 2001 shows?), when some people took their front-row seats well into the set, like 4-5 songs in, and without missing a beat, Jeff included "You're late" in whatever lyric he was singing at that moment. Haha. It was nice to see the audience standing up and rocking out, it seemed to make for a good vibe. At my previous theater shows, this did not happen. Jeff implored the crowd at Radio City that "You might want to stand up for the next few songs" when they busted into Theologians. Maybe it was a younger crowd than usual last night, who knows. Too Far Apart was nice, my first time on this tour and 2nd only time ever I think. No other big surprises for me. I rate this show #4 of the 4 I went to, behind Cooperstown, Brooklyn #2, and Brooklyn #1.

I think Jeff was surprised how hype the crowd was.Maybe the canary shirt shot was to the guys that showed up late. Ha.
linclink
Also wanted to post this, but wasn't sure where to put it so I'll just put it here... Kudos to Mr. Sansone (and Mr. Stirratt, to just a slightly lesser extent since he didn't sit in with the Ranaldo band) for being the proverbial hardest-working men in show biz last night. After Wilco finished their show at 11:26 p.m., those two promptly jetted over to the nearby Arch Street Tavern (joined by the stalwart Autumn Defense rhythm section of G. Wiz and Haggs) and were sitting in with the Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion band by midnight. Then the Autumn D quartet snuck in a brief but fun mini-set of their own with Sarah Lee and Johnny and members of their band sitting in. They did five songs before the bar closed down promptly at 1. Here's what they played: The Sun In CaliforniaThe Swallows Of London Town (w/Johnny Irion on tambourine)Simple Explanation (w/Charlie Rose on pedal steel)Feel You Now (w/Sarah Lee Guthrie on backing vocals, Johnny Irion on electric guitar and Charlie Rose on pedal steel)It's Just That Simple (w/Sarah Lee Guthrie on backing vocals, Johnny Irion on electric guitar and Charlie Rose on pedal steel)Nice to get the report! I heard about this..first from a writer from Relix magazine who I happened to sit next to...and then from someone afterwards who sat next to some of the Guthrie family at the show...since I'd just seen The Autumn Defense in NYC & knew it was going to be Pat & John (& no one else), I decided to get back to the friend's house who I was crashing with...sorry to have missed, but glad to hear the cool report!!! linclink
This is probably my fave show of the tour that I've seen...and the reason was the absolutely glorious sound!! WOW!! Outdoor venues are fun & all, but this was at another level entirely!!! And a great set list & performance to boot, of course!!

Sparky speaks
Outside of the traffic accident in the pouring rain on I-91 in Rocky Hill that closed the highway for about 20 minutes, another great Wilco experience. My son, his buddy and I met my college roommate at the Bushnell for his cherry popping first ever Wilco concert. Wilco now has another fan. Managed to pick up one of those new Wilco baseball caps. I had to replace that worn out Red Sox hat I've been wearing since 2004. We knew about the after show party with Gutherie and company but the boys had to go to work the next morning and we passed on it. We might as well have gone since we ended up meeting my roommate at Vito's for some drinks and didn't get out of there until nearly 1 AM. Had to give said roommate a ride home to Old Lyme (long story) before heading back to Milford and didn't get home until 3:30. It was all worth it. Got up yesterday psyched for another Wilco concert, but alas, the run of five shows in twelve days has come to an abrupt conclusion. I'm already jonesing for next June. Will be going to Chicago next week however and will be taking my son to see the top secret, off limits to fans, area 51, Wilco Loft site. So that will have to suffice. Thanks for the link to the show download. Just a footnote for those of you in Chicago, the bass player in my son's old band now plays for the Revivalists out of New Orleans. One of the reasons we are going to Chicago is to see them play at Martyr's on Wed. the 8th. They are pretty good if you've got nothing to do... http://www.thereviva....com/about.html

jsarnerphoto
I wish Wilco would bring It's Just That Simple back into rotation. Definitely the highlight of the Winter Residency for me. We heard them sound check it while waiting outside the Brewery Ommegang. I was hopeful, but it wasn't in the set.
