Beltmann
I am a liberal voter and even I don't find it suspicious. Hell, I'm impressed that he was working on a holiday weekend. Like I said, the legislature approved it and signed off on it in mid-June. That's plenty of notice for the people of WI. Whether or not the public notices is besides the point - because all of this is public information anyway. Walker just put his stamp on it. Obviously he wasn't going to veto it. The fact that he didn't sign it into effect the moment it hit his desk is what surprises me. Perhaps I'd be less suspicious if it weren't for the simple fact that the late-Friday tactic--a common political strategy across the country and across the parties--has been a staple of the Scott Walker administration since he was sworn in. Few things in politics aren't theater or otherwise carefully orchestrated. It strikes me as naive to not assume that a political calculation was likely made.

IRememberDBoon
Democrats are the ones that want to use common sense measures to REDUCE unwanted unplanned pregnancies. Sex Ed and condom distribution are two ways that work.Forced ultrasounds and abstinence like Hixter and his ilk want do nothing and cost pantloads.Since starting common sense measures under President Clinton in the early 90s luckily weve cut abortions to half of what they were in the 80s and theyre getting less every year unlike what Hixter wanted you to believe up top.Nothing too hard to understand. Just plain old common sense

Few things in politics aren't theater or otherwise carefully orchestrated. It strikes me as naive to not assume that a political calculation was likely made. I'll agree that Walker purposefully signed it into law on a Friday buried between a holiday and a weekend. I'm just not impressed with the idea of being outraged that he did so, as if the law is more reprehensible than it already is because of the calculated date that he signed it. And truthfully, I don't really understand "the game" of signing it on that Friday, vs the other six days he could have signed it on. Can someone explain that to me? Is there a range of bad-to-good dates?

Hixter
I get a kick that you've been cast as a villain in this forum, especially considering how polite you've been through it all. This place is fairly pleasant and polite as a whole. I stopped participating in another large/secret online forum after rude comments were made while my former father-in-law was dying of ALS. He was a Republican politician and a few people couldn't resist turning his slow, painful death into a political pissing match. Some people aren't as open-minded as they think. IRememberDBoon
I just go by what the leaders of the party you support support. same as you do me.I don't think it was a paid day off for most people. I worked on the 4th and the office buildings in the area were deserted. Friday the parking lots were full again. I agree that they should be rare, so I looked up the stats and found that they are anything but: http://www.cdc.gov/reproductivehealth/Data_Stats/just pointing out you failed to mention theyre at a 40 year low and getting less every year. half of what they were under St Reagan. Hixter
I just go by what the leaders of the party you support support. same as you do me.No, I respond to what you post. I don't see you or anyone else as the living, breathing incarnation of a political party. My affinity for the GOP is nowhere near what you appear to believe; I have more negative feelings toward them than positive. (The same holds true for the Democratic Party.) Hixter
You would probably be a good candidate for the Libertarian party affiliation, I would think Maybe, but I disagree with much of their platform, too. I guess I'm doomed to be party-less, which is unfortunate because I love to party.

Well, I don't disagree with them, I just don't ever expect them to win, so I chose not to become one.

I disagree with a lot (most?) of what I've seen Hixter write here, but I don't recall him ever calling out someone for all the sins of their political party/affiliation like you did. But then again, this is all a game to ya right?
bleedorange
You just have to roll with it. I'm sure I've been labelled as a right-wing zealot by some here and elsewhere. Although, in Texas and within my family, I'm sometimes seen as middle-of-the-road all the way to commie pinko liberal.

IRememberDBoon
I guess Im the last proud Democrat left. You stick with Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul and Eric Cantor (MY congressman) and I'll hang with Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. I just laugh at anyone that thinks the parties are the same. What a pantloadYou just have to roll with it. I'm sure I've been labelled as a right-wing zealot by some here and elsewhere. Tweedling
My conservative friends and family think I'm too liberal and my liberal friends and family think I'm too conservative. I'm drawn to the lyrics of Bob Dylan:"It’s a restless hungry feelingThat don’t mean no one no goodWhen ev’rything I’m a-sayin’You can say it just as good. You’re right from your sideI’m right from mineWe’re both just one too many morningsAn’ a thousand miles behind"
