remphish1
Going in July to Mykonos, Santorini and Athens. Very excited! Any recommendations, etc?? I'm hoping to do the normal tourist things including a side trip to Olympia or Meteroa anyone go to either?
Moss
Apparently there are some ruins and whatnot. Seriously though that is really cool. I would totally read up on my Greek history. Always wanted to make that trip.
smells like flowers
The oracle at Delphi is cool, a short bus ride from Athens. I was in Greece in September 1998. We spent time on Naxos, it was quieter than Mykonos and Santorini. Wo knows now, that was so long ago!
Wendy
Oh, man ... that sounds awesome. It's been too many years since I went to give you specific suggestions. My mom and I were on a 10-day tour, 1993 or so, and of course it was all planned for us, but I loved absolutely everywhere we went. Part over land (Athens, Delphi, Olympia, Corinth), part cruising at sea (Mykonos, Rhodes, Ephesus in Turkey). But sadly did not include Santorini. I could have spent a lot more time in Greece than 10 days. Have a great time! (Oh, and I totally agree about going to see the oracle at Delphi!)

Preferred B
I'm going to remphish's destinations plus a few more in May, so I'm interested in recommendations too.
Albert Tatlock
Not been to Olympia but I get the impression it's not the best of sites. I would recommend Mystras (on the side of the mountain above Sparta which itself has little in the way of remains - Mystras is A deserted Byzantine town, and Napflio as a base for Mycenae (and it also has Tiryns on the edge of the town for the real Homer geeks). Preferred B
We've got about 18 days - Athens, Kalamata, a couple of small towns on the Peloponnese (Vounaria and Koroni, maybe Methoni), Santorini, Mykonos, Naxos, and Paros. We'll be in Athens about three different times, but never for a full day. Mostly arriving in the afternoon and leaving the next morning or afternoon. So we'll have time for a couple of things there - and some meals - but not much more. Kalamata is only an overnight, too. The other places, we have a few days in each. I'm excited! I should have some recs when I return.

froggie
Their from Macedonia right? that's my dad's side (Prilep)... my mum's ones are in northern Greece (Florina). they speak both languages there and there's arguments of what side of the border its on. and that's down in Australia!... they like eachother there!. apparently the opposite to the culture of Kalamata :thumpup http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florina
