worldrecordplayer
So is Tweedy doing a show at Newport or is he playing with Mavis? I would assume he's doing his solo set, but the wording here says he will play "alongside" Mavis to help celebrate her birthday. http://www.jambase.com/Articles/121260/Jeff-Tweedy-Added-to-Newport-Folk-Festival-Lineup Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk

I imagine he'll go on right before Mavis. I'm sure he'll be joining her onstage too. I was already excited for NFF. Now I'll be counting the days...

Magnetized
The blurb on the Folk Fest website when you click through for Jeff is really cute: Jeff Tweedy Sunday, July 27, 2014Jeff Tweedy, a vital figure in our ever-evolving music scene, brings his engaging solo acoustic performance to this year’s Newport Folk Festival. In addition to his vast song catalog, amassed throughout his 20 year tenure as the leader of Wilco, Tweedy’s collaborations and friendship with Mavis Staples make him an integral part of this year’s lineup. “Have you heard the news? My dear friend, Jeff Tweedy, is coming to Newport to help me celebrate my 25th birthday. Ohhh, did I make a mistake? Ah yes, it’s the 75th, isn’t it? Well listen, it feels like the 25th to me. Now listen: I’ll only be 75 once (I think) so I want all of my friends to come out and dance with me. I’ve got some new steps- because I’ve got these new knees! Uh-huh…and Tweedy’s going to cut a step too. Ok! I’m looking for your face in the place- everyone come on out…Happy Birthday to me!”

RaspberryJam
Newport theory: Jack White doesn't have anything scheduled for the 25th or 26th of July, but he is sort of near the east coast. There. I said it.

There. I said it.I have a strong feeling that Beck will be added. Seems like he's doing every other festival. Dr. Dog would be a great addition, and they're free around then too. He could turn up at NFF on Friday or Sunday... My excitement for a RA addition will rival my excitement for the Tweedy announcement. Suppose I'd have to buy Friday tickets too... RaspberryJam
I support any and all of these. What's Blitzen Trapper doing that weekend? Beck was a fantastic late addition last year.

Magnetized
Well... Ryan Adams was added to Friday.EDIT: just bought tickets. I haven't been this excited for a show in a long time. Is it too early to start a NFF thread? Oh, this IS exciting. Somehow I've never managed to see Ryan Adams, and I know how passionate many of my Wilco friends are about him. I have a few albums and I think he's good, but now I get to see him live and see what all the shouting's about. I definitely don't think it's too soon to start a Newport thread. We've already (sort of) got a Lockn' thread.

Just found out and just got a ticket and have been doing a bit of grooving to YouTube this morning. At the very appropriate Union Chapel.I think it will be a good place fo a final warm-up gig, with a few special guests perhaps?
