Mr. Heartbreak
Gotcha. Wasn't sure if she was worth the time to even check out (musically, that is. Of course she is worth checking out in the other way). The reason I posted was because I have seen a few pals on my Facebook feed post about her...one of whom is a guy who turned me onto some obscure Krautrock, like Amon Duul II. Thought there might be something there.
Magnetized
entertainment product created by a marketing teamThat's what I tend to think too. But is it possible that she's got potential? I don't have an opinion, really. Just seen her on a couple of video appearances.

dagwave
read the RS cover story- not sure what to make of her...i originally believed the marketing machine version, but after reading the article, not so sure.....actually after reading the article i am no closer to understanding who she is or what her music means, or, ...i just do not know. i'm only sleeping
I know nothing about her but just read a headline in Rolling Stone (Spanish ed.) that Lana del Rey is closest to "Nirvana than to Rihanna" (?). Not enough to pique mi interest.
Atticus
I tried giving her a chance this weekend, as I'm scrolling through all the ACL acts I don't know on Spotify. I tried 3 songs and couldn't take any of it.
Mr. Heartbreak
I thought maybe she was going to be the new Hope Sandoval or something.
chriscolbert
She has a sound she's definitely going for, at least on her second album. Like this noir gangster movie soundtrack thing. I never heard the first album but thought I'd check the hype out since Auerbach produced it. I went in wanting to hate it but have to admit I'm really digging it. Not sure if I should feel dirty or not.

Me too. I don't think getting Dan Auerbach to produce your record is a real attempt to be a marketing machine, at least not like a Katy Perry. She certainly came across in the RS interview as someone not interested in cashing in but who knows.
