knotgreen
There was no opening act tonight. The band took the stage at about 10 after 8 and played for two hours. My girlfriend was lucky enough to snag a setlist from the stage. opsopcopolis
Nice! Rehearsing for Mavis at Newport, perhaps? That may be the first time Jeff's done that one in a regular (i.e. non living room show) setting...Yeah, he said it was the first time they had played it and that he was rehearsing for Mavis. My recording will be up in an hour or two. The show was a lot of fun. Very respectful audience in general and the band is pretty good. The new music sounded good and was fun. Lacking the amount of arrangement we get with Wilco, but it still sounded very much like Jeff Tweedy. The solo set actually ran like this: 15. I Am Trying To Break Your Heart16. One Wing17. Hummingbird18. New Madrid19. Please Tell My Brother20. Ruling Class21. Passenger Side22. Laminated Cat23. Born Alone24. Jesus Etc.25. I'm proud I got 'em all right; just butchered the order! Thanks for the recording!
The Inside of Outside
Phenomenal venue! Loved the Music Hall. The sound was fantastic. Some quick thoughts: -Only the Lord Knows was rockin. A surprise for sure. Jeff made a comment after the song that he does not have a deacon. That was quite funny. -I enjoyed the new songs. I have listened to each of the streamed songs once, so I had some knowledge of a few, but not much exposure to them. Honey Combed stood out for me, as did High As Hello and Nobody Dies. -We had a "balcony cult" for the sing-along on Slow Love, as folks in the balcony yelled the most when Jeff asked if we wanted to start a cult. -Jeff admited to having trouble starting some songs. He practiced different moves to start songs. Humorous. -The stretch from New Madrid to Laminated Cat was tailor made for hardcore fans - in 5 songs, we got Uncle Tupelo, Golden Smog, Loose Fur, early Wilco, and whatever the hell you call Laminated Cat - Loose Fur or Wilco demo. We got our money's worth there. -Watching the show got me thinking that Spencer is spending his summer after his HS graduation touring the US as a drummer in rock band. Kinda different than most of us. All of us. Lastly, I dig Portsmouth. It is like a smaller Portland. I'll make a point to go back and check out the city more.
roadhse ma
Looked over at this for the first time ..Excepting the " getting ready for Mavis" materialDo you think this is Sorta what we will get in the Tweedy fall run? I'm excited like most others for the New Recording. Would also love a run of old Tweedy songs apart from new in the show..

I'm excited like most others for the New Recording. Would also love a run of old Tweedy songs apart from new in the show..I was lucky enough to see three of the shows on the Tweedy summer tour, and the structure was like this one. I'd expect something similar for the Fall tour. Long, interesting set of new material, followed by long satisfying set of Jeff acoustic solo singing Wilco and UT songs, then close out with a song or two with full band back on stage. They were terrific shows (my personal fave was the Lincoln Theatre in DC -- wonderful venue, great energy).
SarahC
I hope we get to hear the TWEEDY tunes we haven't heard yet.
