bböp
Well, they just cut off the Wilco set at Jazz Fest with about an hour left due to some scary lightning in the vicinity and an imminent downpour.Too bad! Seemed like the band was having a good time out there, but it just got to be untenable (especially after a couple of big static shocks went through the PA). Of course the sun came out about 45 minutes after they called it...Here was the complete setlist, as played (or "gotten in"):Handshake DrugsCameraWalkenI'm The Man Who Loves YouSecret Of The SeaHeavy Metal DrummerHummingbirdRed-Eyed and Blue>I Got You (At The End of the Century)Impossible Germany
Maddie Hope
To bad show was cut short. Springtime in the south... today we get the storms. Hope no more storms for the shows... :-)
Magnetized
Nice writeup about Wilco's set and aftermath from the Times Picayune. http://www.nola.com/jazzfest/index.ssf/2015/04/an_abbreviated_but_electrified.html
bböp
Don't suppose that anyone on here made it to the aftershow that was referenced in the Times-Picayune's recap? I should have put two and two together and figured that Nels, at least, would have been at that show at City Park given his connection with Quintron but I overlooked it in all of the other Jazz Fest aftershow listings. It sounds like Mike and Pat were also there, though I'm not sure if they also performed or not. At any rate, I'd love to hear more about the show. Definitely a bummer to have missed it! Sounds like an excellent one...more info here.
Sandy in SFCA
Nice writeup about Wilco's set and aftermath from the Times Picayune. http://www.nola.com/jazzfest/index.ssf/2015/04/an_abbreviated_but_electrified.html Nice article Diane! It really captures the perched on the precipice energy of being out there in those conditions. There was such a focused intensity to their performance that I couldn't be disappointed even though it was cut short. Boss_Tweedy
I agree with Sandy. They really seemed into it before the storms came. And I, too, missed the after-hours show in City Park. Here was the apparent original setlist that we would've heard but for the lightning:
nalafej
Thanks for sharing that intended setlist. I was wondering. IG seemed and still seems like a weird last song choice to me. Is it in Nels' contract that they have to play it?

Is it in Nels' contract that they have to play it? I read somewhere that he claimed responsibility for them playing as long as they did. Apparently the Jazz Fest people wanted to cut it off sooner. I'm wondering if they went with Impossible Germany because it's a bit longer. Just speculating though.
