jw harding
Very sad, but grateful for all the joy he brought. Trying to remember all the times I saw him, from the GD, Ratdog, Other Ones, The Dead, Wolf Bros, and sitting in with other acts over the years, I think I'm at 22. Lot's of great memories, and a catalogue of songs in depth and genius that surpasses 99% of anyone out there. Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings. Lot's of great obit's, but Jesse Jarnow's is probably the only one needed: https://pitchfork.com/features/bob-weir-obituary/ Surprised Jeff has been silent so far, thought they were buddies. Nice rememberances from everyone from Billy Corgan to Wynonna Judd: https://www.jambase.com/article/bob-weir-remembrances-mickey-hart-billy-strings-bob-dylan-trey-anastasio
worldrecordplayer
This one hits hard and deep. I first saw Weir onstage when he and Garcia and Donna showed up at a New Riders show at the Felt Forum in November 1973. The first of countless nights in Weir's presence. Very sad about this. calvino
Yeah - a tough, tough one. I didn't realize he was going through treatment and such. Since 1989, I would at least hit one show every 2 years. None in 2025 for me, so I was looking forward to this year. At least we have all the music he left behind.
Oil Can Boyd
I've been going back to this feature on the Dead's website where you can isolate the tracks from each member. Bob really was a unique player. https://www.dead.net/playingintheband
calvino
Just realized the last 10 or so posts in this thread are death posts -- starting with Phil's. Sad, sad, sad. Going through Weir tributes and such - Bob Weir gave a great shout out to Wilco in his What's In My Bag? from Amoeba https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eFORZUush8
