bweil
Below are the tabs/chords to a bunch of wilco songs - i am not responsible for any of them, as they were done by people that are much more musically inclined than myself - i have simply copied and saved them from other sources - i hope there is not a problem with me posting them, since they were all posted on the previous "version" of this message board.....Enjoy!!! Brian List of songs: radio cure, bob dylans 49th beard, heavy metal drummer, less than you think (not accurate to new album version i dont think), war on war (live), be not so fearful (cover), theologians, hummingbird (also not album version accurate), panthers (aka proving death again), spiders (old live version), pot kettle black, my words, company in my back, millionaire, jesus etc (live), kicking television, woodgrain, when you wake up feeling old, when the roses bloom again, venus stopped the train, im a wheel (acoustic), cars cant escape, pieholden suite, ashes of american flags Radio Cure tabbed by: The Dude Open D - D A D F# A D (no capo) The trickiest part is the strumming, which rapidly alternates hitting low and high strings. Use your thumb for the lower strings (low D A D) and index finger for the higher ones. Watch the footage of this song that's on the bonus DVD of I Am Trying to Break Your Heart to get an idea of how Jeff is playing it. Standard tuning, capo on 5th fret.(On the "I am trying to break your heart" DVD andnormally live, he plays this capoed on the 2nd fret.) Okay, first we'll cover the chord placings for the versesThe intro and outro are the same, except for the song fadesin part-way through it at the beginning. I'll do that after this. The verses are simple. Just standard G - C - D chords. The trickypart to this song is the strumming. Get that down and you've gotthis one easily. Here's the chord placement: (intro) Gyou'll be happier when i'm gone Cbut much too busy to worry G i'll be sad, and you'll feel bad C Dbut i know you wont be sorry G and as i turn to go Cplease don't wave goodbye Gi refuse to cry on roads that are paved C Dwith men who behave C Dlike they know where they're goin Gand i'll stop along the way Cit's then i'll think of you Gand i'll wonder if you knew C Dwhen i got blue C Dand things got weird C Dand i started growin' C D Gbob dylan's beard (outro) end. Okay, now to tackle the very Tweedy intro/outro thing... Keep the same strumming style as the rest of the songthroughout. I'm just going to tab out the prominentnotes (with the chord changes listed above), but makesure to keep strumming the chords. And don't take the spacing on this as an indicationof the rhythm, I'm way to lazy to space it properly. Play through once. Start singing just as you do the hammer-on to hit the G chord. Outro - Start just after you say "..beard". Basically go through the whole thing twice, but the part underlined with asterisks (C to D back to C) should be looped a couple times your second time through. End with a nice G chord. Also during the last verse, he does a little hammer-on when changing from D back to C, like this.... ...i got blue and things got weird.... This is my best stab at what JT's saying, but I don't know Latin so it's a blind stab at best. The first two words mean illiterate light which is a no-brainer since that's what he says later. The last word means "faith, trust or confidence" according to the first latin-english dictionary that came up on Google. Good enough for me. (Of course, any and all corrections are appreciated.) jimtweedy1977
I was fooling around on my bass earlier tonight and happened to pick out the first bar for Ashes of American Flags, at least how it was done on the demo. Which is exactly how I prefer hearing it. I know the song alternates in octaves around these frets but I can't figure out the entire song. Can someone help me out? First bar (?) 12th fret, second string; 12th fret third string; 9th fret third string; 9th fret first string (open) Second Bar (?)12th fret first string (open), 9th fret first string....and that's as far as I got. That's all without listening, just what I could remember from the tune.
