  3. I still dont understand the lack of attention to Pete Rock and CL Smooth. Those guys were among the best of the best (and intelligent to boot, but they always somehow flew under the radar. IMO, this is one of all time great hip-songs And the rest of their stuff is incredibly solid too.
  4. I wound up going to Permanent Records here in Chicago. Great little shop, and they did a Flaming Lips "Zaireeka" party which was pretty bad ass as well.
  5. i think they would have been awesome to see 15 or 20 years ago, but i dont have real high expectations for this set (although I will be present)
  6. Indeed. Which is not to say I dont like the quiet/more eclectic stuff of theirs. But I definitely prefer the noise/feedback drenched guitar attacks (From A Motel 6, I Saw You Looking, etc) far, far more. Personally, "I Am Not Afraid" never grabbed me, although there are some gems there as well (such as "Hatchet")
  7. Blue Line Swinger is one of my all time favorite songs..absolutely perfect in every way. The only YLT albums I'm not a fan of are I Am Not Afraid.. and Fakebook.
  8. I dunno if its necessarily the engineers fault. Some bands out there want that compressed sound...a prime example is the Flaming Lips most recent record. Personally I think it sounds like crap, but thats the route they seem to be taking.
  9. I really hope the Pitchfork set will be plugged-in. A lot of the videos of their lives sets appear to be acoustic.
  10. Yea, aging rap acts are hard to gauge. De La Soul I though was decent last year..not mindblowing, but very solid. Now, if P4K could reuinite Pete Rock and CL Smooth to perform Mecca and The Soul Brother in its entirety, then we would be on to something.
  11. so im just going to throw this out there, but what do you think the possibility is of MBV doing Loveless on friday? after all, there are 2 more slots to fill..and the current MBV shows in the UK are being put on by ATP, which is whos curating the Friday shows at P4K. Not out of the realm of possibility.
  12. I dont know if you caught it from that dudes other videos, but he's now an animatronics programmer for Chuck E Cheese. Funny how those things work out in life.
  13. Pitchfork wasnt bad, but its borderline outgrown Union Park. Either they need to cap the amount slightly less, or pick another vendor. And for the love of god, get more portapotties. Other than that, the food/ beer/ water lines were good (not to mention a 24 oz bottle of water was only $1. and you could refill it at the fountains.)
  14. I still havent forgiven myself that I missed Boris/Michio Kurihara last they rolled through town.
  15. public enemy would be awesome. Boris and Spiritualized would be choice (M Ward aint bad either), but the rest is meh.
  16. I would say theres more of a jazz influence
  17. Eff that. Those guys could dissapear into the fabric of time, and I would be happy never hearing another peep. Unfortunately they will continue to assault my senses everytime I walk into a sports arena from here on out.
