That's fine. But I do. It's cool to hear bands pay tribute to other bands....or merely just a way to say, "hey, we think is is a cool song, and we want to play it." I missed whatever inside joke there must be with Secret of the Sea.

Wilco HAS done a GREAT job over the years of keeping their setlists fresh. Probably better than almost any other band. But in April of 2009, with a diverse and fantabulous lineup of musicians, awaiting the release of a new album, it seems like the perfect time to toss in 3 or 4 songs that are either rare Wilco songs or covers. Most of this will probably be moot starting in June. I'd assume by then their sets will have 6-8 songs off the new album.

No, not just one show. Rather, the past 1-2 years worth of shows. We'll see. I'll gladly eat crow if the setlists evolve. But I thought last night might hint at SOMETHING fresh.....but I see no evidence (outside of the couple new songs).

I don't want to come across as a grumpy Wilco hater. 'Cause I'm not...at all. Rather I think we can HELP Wilco. (Not that they care what some stupid fansite blogger thinks about their sets, but I seriously think Wilco can and should spice up thier setlists.) It's hard to be TOO critical of Wilco's current setlist, as the band probably doesn't want every new tune circulating youtube and elsewhere. But based on just the first Milwaukee show, the songs don't seem that different than what was played last year. It seems they have 40-50 songs that they pull from, when there's SO many other songs

Good to see Ashes and ALTWYS was played. But I wish they'd jazz up the setlists a bit....why not throw in a couple covers or less-heard Wilco nuggets (Venus Stop the Train, Panthers, Diamond Claw, Dash 7, Leave Me Like You Found Me...)?

The Jayhawks' expectations for 2009/2010 just went way up. Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich both announced they'll be back. Also, Kansas, Duke, Kentucky and Carolina are all in the mix for a handful of top high-school players. I expect all those teams to be in the top 10 when the season kicks back up in November. What other teams might be in the top 10 heading into next year?

The first 40 minutes of Wall-E is unbelievable. I'd put those minutes with just about any 40 minutes of any movie ever. The rest of the movie is also very good, but the "silent" first 3rd is just jaw-droppingly great for so many reasons. I've read that Up gets visual inspiration from Hayao Miyazaki, the director of Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle, among others. That's exciting to hear. Early in movie, viewers will be introduced to 78 year old Carl Fredrickson and learn who he is and why he's living by himself. I hear it's very poignant.

Up will open this year's Cannes Film Festival on May 13...the first time ever it will be opened by an animated movie. Up opens nationwide in late June. Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 2 will be out in 3D in October. You'll be able to see both movies for one price. And before the movies, we'll get to see the first trailer for Toy Story 3, which opens in June 2010.

How about Tyler AND Roy crying in each other's arms? Set your DVR's.

I agree. Mostly a very good album. But the space noises are way too much for me. Dent County is beautiful.

Rollingstone has a preview of a new song from the Tinted Windows, the supergroup of Taylor Hanson (Hanson), James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins), Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne) and Bun E. Carlos (Cheap Trick). Album will be out in a couple weeks. http://www.rollingstone.com/blogs/smokings...ted-windows.php Also, youtube has a few songs performed at SXWS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-VjxWazEB0

I'm half-joking. But must I always have to pull out a dictionary or encyclopedia when I read his newest record title? What IS a Thrid shift grotto slack? Do people get blues about geographical terrain? What big event happened in the little-known Ukraine city? Is he referencing the Oklahoma city or the Indian chief the city was named for? Did you know the word means "things up high"? Interesting. Anyone want to explain what Amercian Central Dust might mean? I mean, who the hell knows why Pavement named an album "Brighten the Corners", but I'm OK with it. The Eels named a reco

I admire Roy Williams and his amazing coaching and recruiting skills. And I admire Tyler Hansborough. Great, great college player. But... they annoy me and I don't want to hear ESPN gush about them for eternity. Izzo has gotten his team to play an amazingly tough brand of basketball. I think his team will bother Carolina's offense and it WILL be a close game. Hopefully Lucas or someone in green hits a big shot at the end.

Which sucky Farrar record title sucks least? A. Third Shift Grotto Slack B. Terroir Blues C. Sebastapol D. Okemah and the Melody Riot E. American Central Dust

I don't agree with that, but I understand it. It's just so great and beautiful in a LOT of ways. It's really a unique sounding album when compared to all their others...it almost doesn't sound like R.E.M. It probably DOES deserve to be ranked high.

I LOVE The Crane Wife......especially the awesome and epic track #2 "The Island, Come and See...". And "Summersong" is a great pop song. Does Hazards With Love sound in any way "The Island"? I'm thinking of picking this up, but the reviews sure do sound mixed.

Impossible to rate one over the other, but I'll try. My top 5: 1. Murmur 2. Fables 3. Out of Time 4. Life's Rich Pageant 5. Reckoning

I agree with this. But so many "kids movies" are just so silly and stupid. They're almost insulting kids' intelligence. Cat in the Hat was for kids, but it's a piece of crap. Maybe kids will say they liked it, but no way did that movie make them feel the same as the first time they read the book. Kids laugh at fart and butt jokes, but must all kids movies have that? Anyone see Journey to the Center of the Earth? Don't. I never read Coraline, but the movie seems true to the feel of the film. Same goes for the Wonka/Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movies. I don't want Where the Wild Thi

The wierd thing is that it's a kids movie, yet the kids in theatre I was at hardly ever laughed. I guess it provided a decent amount of entertainment, though it started off very slow and later had many boring, talky parts. And except for B.O.B. the blob, all the characters were pretty forgettable. But yes. It WILL make buttloads of money. Bolt was flatter than I'd hoped, but at least the characters were fleshed out. Travolta and Miley Cyrus did NOTHING to enhance the film. The hamster was VERY funny and the action scenes were exciting.

Some gay people are known to have a flair for how they dress. I'm not gay-bashing if that's what you're implying. I'll surely be among many when I go see Morrissey, and unless any of them pinches my butt or sticks a tongue in my ear, I will enjoy every minute of it. I'm afraid to ask why I'd be considered a douchebag outside of this...

Anderson must be leveraging. Talking to Memphis might get Anderson another few hundred thousand per year.
-
He IS a great recruiter, but it's hard to not wonder if he's doing anything shady. I mean, he's got the #1, #2, and #3 rated kids leaning towards Memphis, along with 3 other 4-star athletes. What's he doing to get the absolute cream of the crop?! I only think Henry might choose Kansas, as he came very close to coming to KU, and his family went to school there. Maybe he'd like his chances of going further in the NCAA tournament in 2010 with Kansas rather than Kentucky. I'm hearing Missouri is doing all possible to keep Mike Anderson. Would Memphis be a better job than Missouri?
-
That's not a given. Xavier Henry signed for Memphis. He would need a release from Memphis OR sit out a year. Demarcus Cousins and John Wall can go wherever they want....they haven't signed. Cousins might decide to go to Kentucky, but Wall might be interested in Duke or Kansas. Calpari is a great recruiter but maybe just a decent coach. His team look horrific defensively against Missouri...inexcusable with that athletic talent.
