A friend of mine used to play Eminem sometimes. The song "Lose Yourself" is phenomenal. Other than that, I don't think you're missing much. But I don't like most hip-hop flavored tunes.

And he's draining 3's better than in the season. The dude, with his size and athleticism, is like Magic back in the day. But (dare I say it) Lebron is or soon will be better. He does about everything Magic did, but is so much stronger and can take it to the bucket seemingly at will.

This was on a thread before. It was WAY more than I thought. "Bad Company" and "Okkervil River Song" are 2.

It helps Green Day that Rolling Stone has been all over their new album. First, a 4 1/2 star review, then a cover. In my world, there's only one HUGE album this year: The Flaming Lips double disc.

LA vs. Denver might be a fairly competitive series. Billups won't be intimidated by anybody on the Lakers. If I was a Nuggets fan, I'd worry a little the Nuggets' emotions. It must be because of the coaches. Phil Jackson is so calm and cool, and it obviously rubs off on his team...or he makes sure that it does. The Nuggets seem a little overly emotional and/or aggressive at times, probably a reflection of George Karl. All signs for me point to the Lakers beating the Nuggets in about 6. Boston will probably lose tonight. Though Howard and the Magic seem to tighten up pretty easily. Wouldn

It seems WAY obvious to me. And I like Wilco's intent and execution. "Do you dabble in depression". "Someone twisting a knife in your back". "Are you being attacked." If something in your life sucks and bringing you down, Wilco is always there. Pop in a cd of Wilco that you love. Get out of your funk. If you don't like Wilco, pop in a White Stripes disc or ABBA. Let music be your "pillow to cry on". I think it's genius song, done in a fun, rockin' way.

You're right. I was referring to the sound. Much like R.E.M.'s The One I Love, I'm Always in Love is a fun crowd pleaser, no matter the intent of the lyrics. Wilco (the song) maybe will be even better live because it's an ode to fans' love affair for their favorite bands and music...AND it's rockin' and fun.

I listened to the stream. JUST ONCE. Impressions: - First, THANK YOU Wilco for the stream! You're awesome. - Overall, I like it a lot. Wilco HAS NOT started it's nose-dive like R.E.M. did on Reveal. I don't think Wilco can/will ever have the magic it had from Being There to Ghost is Born, but Tweedy's still got a LOT to offer. - Wilco (the song) is fantastic. Easily rests besides Wilco's best poppy "fun" songs like I Got You and I'm Always in Love. LOVE the lyrics. Listening to your favorite music CAN be a great balm to problems and troubles in life. - Solitaire, to me, is the sta

Maybe just ONE listen. That won't hurt me. People say it's addicting, but screw that. I got will power.

Nice post. I agree 100 percent.

I, too, find it curious that it's not been leaked. Perhaps Wilco was very selective in who they gave the promo copies to? Or told those who leaked it would find a camel's head in their bed?

The Shins first album was so odd and unique and great. It sounded like something that they may not top, and I don't think they'll be able to. I like Chutes Too Narrow also. Saint Simon is amazing. Heard "They'll Soon Discover" off the Spongebob Soundtrack? It would fit nicely on Chutes. Very good song.

Up will be the opening movie of Cannes. It will be shown sometime today/tonight. Roger Ebert has seen the 2D version and writes it about it on his blog (apparently he hates 3D, and digresses a little bit about the topic). I lightly skimmed his review, as not to spoil any of the movie. But his and other early reviews (Time magazine's Richard Corliss has a review also) are glowing to say the least. Here's a few things Ebert says about the film (I edited out things that might be major spoilers...there are minor spoilers ahead): Back to the "true" film, the 2D version of "Up." Find a theater

You're saying a concert is more meaningful and important than church? Dude, you're going to hell. (Ha.) I didn't say church wasn't boring. Nor did I say church was "better" than a concert. I just said it was more sacred. I have a hard time comparing a Wilco concert to church. For me it's apples and oranges. One is a time to kick back and have fun, the other is something I feel like I need to do and has different rewards.
-
Personally, I'd never compare being at a band's live show to something as sacred as being at mass. But in the moment at a concert, the emotions and feelings are very similar.
-
Neat that they got mentioned, but quite a stretch by the writer....who obviously is a Wilco-head.

If you're right that it's all just kind of silly and random, I like it even MORE. But I'm guessing the camel was chosen for some reason. I design graphics, so I naturally try to "figure out" a designer's intent....if there is meant to be one. And I like the font. It fits somehow.

His answers to questions are very calculated. His actions and expressions look very calculated. But sometimes he casually lets something slip out as an afterthought or "joke". I believe he says, "....mustard....dijon, or something like that." Okay. NOW I'm done.
-
I think the camel is definitely symbolizing a fan's love for music or a band. The party is to celebrate said band or music. The new album is a celebration of music, life. If it's at all political, the camel could symobolize making it through "a crappy 8 years of existence" (something Jeff said...which I think is a bit wrong-headed, but I digress), and we're celebrating a new existence and hope. The camel got us throgh the desert. All the above could be COMPLETELY wrong. But regardless, I like the cover. It's the fact it's so wierd that's making us think about it. The YHF, AGIB and SBS

I shouldn't have posted anything. I see things probably a little differently. To me, Obama just seems very calculated. I honestly could give a shit what he orders for lunch. Hell, I also like dijon mustard. And sometimes I order a salad and soup at a burger place 'casue I want something light. But if I was President, and made an outing to a burger place with cameras rolling, "dijon" wouldn't leave my mouth. Just like joking about the Special Olympics would never leave my mouth. He's said numerous other things that just don't seem to fit in whatever situation he's in. He seems awkward many t

Oh, here we all go again. Of course, regular guys know the word "dijon". Don't be stupid. Obama and Biden clearly make an orchestrated attempt to show Americans that, like many of us, they go out to get burgers for lunch. And it all looks great. Then Obama asks if they have mustard. Still cool. I'm good with that. Then he has to specify the "dijon". Dammit Obama. You came SO close to the perfect photo op. But you're still OK, Barack. That's just a minor slip. We're good. Now just finish the order and go sit down and eat. This will play good to Joe Six Pack out there. Then Obama asks that

I LOVE the cover. Interesting. Bizarre. But why a camel? Is it simply for the "W" reference? Must be another reason for it.
-
The fact Obama actually said "dijon" kind of blows the whole calculated outing of showing America that he and Biden are 2 regular guys. And how many "normal" guys ask that their hamburger be medium-rare? Obama's just a few months into the Presidency. But his clumsy and awkward Presidential moments are starting to pile up. Bowing to the Saudi leader, the Special Olympics comment on Leno, the numerous teleprompter stumblings, his awkward cadence and unfunny "jokes" when he speaks... Of course, all those things are matters of style and don't mean a thing when it comes to decisions and po
