I could say the same about you, but I won't, because I simply don't care. As for my character ... no, what's been "defined" is how I make my living.

Yup, the whole enchilada. Everything about that song makes me want to shove forks through my eyeballs. I believe I once described it here as "Aqua meets Stacey Q," and I still feel that's accurate.

You're the one fudging the facts here. Also: "Yes some are there for the wrong place at the wrong time. Which is terrible, but it happens." Jesus. -

You're assuming all those at Guantanamo joined al-Qaida. -

HAHAHAHAAA that's such a bullshit answer. "End of story." Hilarious. Many of those at Guantanamo are only "military / war criminals" because the Bush administration says they are. No evidence, no attorneys, no due process, nothing. Lots of them just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and got picked up. They're in a legal black hole, held without charges. Actual war criminals would be treated far better than that. -

It's interesting that this Golyadkin character is so intent on shouting down anyone who expresses even the slightest admiration for Chavez. Sound like anyone else we know? -

I didn't write that I like him. I wrote that "I actually kinda like the guy -- at least for his willingness to stand up to the U.S. -- but he was angling to become a dictator." In other words, I admire the way that he's refused to knuckle under to the U.S. (specifically the current administration). However, I then went on to point out that he's becoming a dictator. That's a far cry from "I like him." I guess I needed to actually denounce him to pass your test. I guess posting this thread in the first place wasn't good enough, eh? To be clear: I admire a few isolated things about Chavez. I -
The point I'm trying to make here is that eight men saying that they've had sex with a U.S. Senator is reportable news when it's paired with prior events that include an arrest for soliciting sex in a men's room and a consistent anti-gay voting record, and that the paper covers itself adequately by including the disclaimer that they don't (yet) have definitive proof. The burden of proof is for a court of law ... the media has a burden too, but it is (or should be) in the business of reporting news, not suppressing it. When you have eight men making this claim, and everything the paper has do

Precisely because he already pleaded guilty to the bathroom solicitation. Let's review a couple of choice quotes from the original post in this thread, shall we? Several months spent checking the background and details? That doesn't sound like irresponsible journalism to me. There's an existing story out there that a U.S. Senator who is stridently anti-gay is himself a closeted gay, and now there are eight men who have come forward to say that they had encounters with that senator ... sorry, but that's news. They could have printed that several months ago, and maybe then it would have be

link Santa Claus is coming to town -- for 34 microseconds STOCKHOLM (AFP) - Christmas is hectic for all but particularly for Santa, who must live in Kyrgyzstan and make his rounds at lightning speed if he is to deliver gifts to all the world's children on time, a Swedish consultancy has concluded. Between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Santa Claus's route around the planet includes stops at 2.5 billion homes, assuming that children of all religions receive a present from the jolly man in the red suit, Anders Larsson of the engineering consultancy Sweco told AFP. "We estimated that th

OK, yeah, that was a poor assumption on my part. We'll see how it plays out. Craig was one of the high-horse Republicans during the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal. It's ridiculous to think that his later downfall for similar (alleged) conduct shouldn't be reported.
-
So, Clinton's a hypocrite on women's issues because he gets a blowjob from an intern? Hmmm. Yeah, I can see how that equates to Craig being a hypocrite because he has gay sex in public restrooms while doing everything he can to undermine gay rights. Apples and oranges.
-
Can't say I have any sympathy for him. We're all hypocrites to some degree, but Craig's hypocrisy affects government policy. If anything, this is anti-McCarthyism. Is the Statesman a tad overzealous here? Maybe. But I'll take a press that's actually willing to investigate some stuff over one that acts as GOP stenographers any day.

From Salon.com today... King Kaufman's Sports Daily Ohio State vs. LSU: The BCS's answer to a wild, unpredictable year is a couple of usual suspects. Sorry, Hawaii. Dec. 03, 2007 | After all those crazy upsets and all that churn in the rankings, after a year when anything could happen and most of it did, the Bowl Championship Series has rounded up a couple of usual suspects for the Championship Game. With almost a dozen teams able to make a claim for a shot at the title without laughing into their sleeve, the title game will be Ohio State vs. LSU. Oh, the topsy. The turvy. It's been mo

I actually kinda like the guy -- at least for his willingness to stand up to the U.S. -- but he was angling to become a dictator. Let's hope his apparent respect for the electoral result is genuine. link - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Chavez loses constitutional vote By FRANK BAJAK, Associated Press Writer Humbled by his first electoral defeat ever, President Hugo Chavez said Monday he may have been too ambitious in asking voters to let him stand indefinitely for re-election and endorse a huge leap to a socialist state. I'm not so sure of that. I think it'll be a good game. That I'll agree with. I don't give the blue a snowball's chance in hell against the Gators.
-
I already know what people are going to say in response to this (pretty much), but I have to ask: Why isn't Hawaii being given a chance at the national title game? What really bothers me about this is that essentially what the BCS is saying is that there's no way a team from one of the "lesser" conferences could ever even possibly be the best football team in the country. So, no matter what one of those teams achieves -- for example, the only undefeated season in the country among Div. 1-A teams -- they'll be denied their chance simply because of the conference they play in. Well, that's b

Dudebro, that's cool ... glad you're getting the chance. I daresay you won't be disappointed (having seen him for the first time myself less than a month ago). -
He was a major figure in my childhood. To think, all those times I watched him almost die over thirty years ago... Weird that now it's actually happened.
