  1. Weird word association: Your post made me think of the last J. Geils Band album (after Peter Wolf left). My brain is having that kind of a day.
  2. I did not vote for Debbie Harry. Gorgeous, but was never my cup of tea.
  3. The balcony might be reserved seating, but the main floor is nearly always standing/GA. I did go to one seated show at the Riv, but it was the Residents back in 1990, so it was hardly your average, garden-variety show.
  4. The five-night pass sounds good in theory, but I think I'd be burnt out after the second or third night. That's not because of Wilco -- I just personally don't have the stamina or attention span to go to five shows over six nights, no matter who's playing. ...which is too bad, because I'd love to hear the "Complete Wilco" ... I just don't think I'm up for it.
  5. I am extremely jealous of approximately 20,000 people right now. Here's hoping the rumour of more gigs turns out to be true.
  6. Vee-Jay: Celebrating 40 Years of Classic Hits 1953-1993 - 3 CDs, on shuffle.
  7. So ... might we finally get a live DVD out of this?
  8. Tough day to be a Lions fan. Fortunately, I'm a Bears fan. Oh ... wait.
  9. I used to get caffeine headaches (at least, that's what I decided they were) so I basically quit caffeine. I still have an occasional soda with caffeine, but only when nothing caffeine-free (and diet) is available. I'd say I probably drink three or four sodas a month that have caffeine, but otherwise I go without. Since I adopted this stance (at least a couple of years ago), I've not had those headaches. Coincidence? I think not.
  10. Nah ... this just lets McFadden avoid the Heisman Curse. I think he'll have a pretty solid NFL career ... can the same be said for Tebow?
  11. I'm not sure there's a good fit for Gagne anywhere these days.
  12. Doesn't surprise me. Virtually any deep dish that has the sauce on top has never impressed me much. Sauce should never be the top layer of a pizza. The best deep-dish pizza I've ever had was one my father made over twenty years ago that had a double-decker crust. He's not interested in making it again (he's a thin-crust fan, as am I, normally), but I still yearn for it.
  13. I tried one once, because I like SweeTarts. Disgustingly delicious.
  14. I just now noticed that you'd posted that link in the copy/paste thread a while ago. I'm having a pretty craptacular day in general, but news like this tends to give me some much-needed perspective.
  15. Some good news for a Friday! Bills' Kevin Everett walking on his own in and out of rehab By JOHN WAWROW, AP Sports Writer December 7, 2007 Kevin Everett is walking on his own at a Houston rehab center, the latest significant progress by the Buffalo Bills tight end in his remarkable recovery from a serious spinal cord injury. "He doesn't have a full natural stride but, yeah, he's walking," a person close to the family told The Associated Press on Friday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of Everett's status. The person said Everett has been
  16. There weren't 28 albums better than this one in 2007. Hell, there weren't five. Also: Dinosaur Jr. didn't even make their list. So, fuck those guys.
  17. Schiano to remain at Rutgers, won't be next Michigan coach
  18. A minor quibble, but didn't they get his age wrong? He turned 40 last August, right? Good article overall.
  19. Oh, like that makes it better or something.
  20. When the Bears couldn't get into the end zone after having first and goal on the one, I knew they were going to lose.
  21. My living room show experience back in March was one of the high points of my whole year, if not the whole decade so far. We were sad not to be able to join in again this year, but I'm happy that our absence means that some other folks will be able to enjoy one of these shows.
