It's not that simple (or wasn't, last time I checked). RealPlayer came with all kinds of additional bullshit and there wasn't anything you could do about it. There was a minor uproar about it once upon a time, but I've not bothered to pay attention in a while. Maybe they've stopped doing that now, but I doubt I'll ever trust them.

I like QuickTime. Real has a history of installing adware and other shit on your computer. That's the biggest reason I banished it from the kingdom. Maybe they're not doing that any more, but they still were as of a couple of years ago.

Anyone ever heard of a 19-track promo sampler called From The Beginning? Supposedly it was put together to help promote Sky Blue Sky. It's up on Oink right now (FLAC). Looks like there isn't anything new -- all tracks appear on the studio albums. Is anyone familiar with this, though? Any alternate versions on there? Came in from my workout this evening, grabbed a soda, flopped down in front of the TV, turned it on ... just in time to see the commercial. The studio version sounded fantastic ... so I had to figure out the bonus content (goddamned QuickTime preferences) and do the download.
