Well, they are owned by Ford, and Henry Ford sure was a four-star prick. So yeah, they're evil too.

ction, is that you? Or maybe Sir Stewart? Damn, this is comedy gold. Start with a Wilco song appearing in a commercial, end with an invocation of the Holocaust. If Guinness tracked these kinds of records, we'd have a winner.

I did, and I stand by it. Go on, keep digging. Oh, wait -- I need more popcorn. I also said this: I stand by that, too.

You'd have a hard time convincing me that VW today has much of anything to do with what VW was over sixty years ago, or that it should be treated any differently from any other company because of stuff that happened that far back. If the company still employed people from that era -- people who had any kind of decision-making power then, and still do today -- that might be different.

Nope. And to suggest otherwise is really reaching. The name has persisted, but nothing else. What do other ads, or the programs during which they're shown, have to do with anything?

$41 to fill my tank this morning. Apparently my new (used) car has a larger tank than my previous one. Meh. Our petrol is still a lot cheaper than Europe's, so you won't hear me complaing too loudly. I do find it suspicious, though, that these huge price increases have happened while the occupant of the White House has been a man who's extremely cozy with oil interests. As for E85, corn is not the only option for its production. I think that it doesn't hurt to continue research into E85 and see if we can improve the fuel efficiency of the manufacturing process. They use a kind of switch gr

Oh, Jesus Ass-Fucking Christ on a Skateboard, is this bullshit still carrying on? I can't leave you kids for two minutes, swear to cod. jnickerson (et al), you need to get down off your fucking high horse. This "I am the arbiter of all that is right and true in the world of Art" just makes you look like the biggest knob on the planet. The world hasn't changed because a Wilco song is being played in a commercial. No one's being hurt by it. Their music doesn't suddenly suck because of it. And, contrary to what you obviously think, their ability to carry on as artists has not been compromised.

You obviously weren't at tonight's Tigers-Indians game. What a bunch of morons. The guys behind us were taking bets on just about every Tigers batter, and chattering endlessly about their fantasy teams, yet they couldn't understand basic strategy that was playing out on the field. They kept second-guessing routine common-sense moves by both managers. Idiots. ...and those guys were the smartest fans within earshot. You don't want to hear about any of the others. Honestly, sometimes I think Tigers fans don't even know the game. On the other hand, we had fantastic seats (behind the third

Now that you've gotten that out of your system, would it make you feel bad to know that I actually am fat? -
It's not that simple (or wasn't, last time I checked). RealPlayer came with all kinds of additional bullshit and there wasn't anything you could do about it. There was a minor uproar about it once upon a time, but I've not bothered to pay attention in a while. Maybe they've stopped doing that now, but I doubt I'll ever trust them.

I'm not fat, I'm just big-boned. -
Fortunately they still offer a standalone player, which is good because I have no interest in iTunes.

High horse much? -
I like QuickTime. Real has a history of installing adware and other shit on your computer. That's the biggest reason I banished it from the kingdom. Maybe they're not doing that any more, but they still were as of a couple of years ago.

Wow. Yes, yes it is. Yeah, I never cared much for Reynolds ... but though I couldn't stomach him, the new crew makes him look great by comparison. I was never an every-night viewer, but I probably watched this show two or three times a week back in the day. Since Phillips arrived, I doubt I've watched it two or three times this year.

The world ain't what it used to be. Twenty years ago, I might have cried "sellout." Now, not so much. -
I loathe Real Player and refuse to install it on any of my PCs. Fucking piece of shit.

Anyone ever heard of a 19-track promo sampler called From The Beginning? Supposedly it was put together to help promote Sky Blue Sky. It's up on Oink right now (FLAC). Looks like there isn't anything new -- all tracks appear on the studio albums. Is anyone familiar with this, though? Any alternate versions on there? I just don't want to bother Oinking it if I've already got everything on it. Here's the track list, as posted: What Light I Must Be High Passenger Side Box Full Of Letters Monday Outtasite (Outta Mind) Misunderstood California Stars Can't Stand It Shot In The Arm Via Chicago

Came in from my workout this evening, grabbed a soda, flopped down in front of the TV, turned it on ... just in time to see the commercial. The studio version sounded fantastic ... so I had to figure out the bonus content (goddamned QuickTime preferences) and do the download. -
Thanks for this. I was having trouble figuring it out, but now it works. The song sounds great.
