SBS Preorders: Put your MusicToday bitching here!
cryptique replied to lost highway's topic in Just A Fan
To me, this is a serious gaffe on MusicToday's part. Seems to me that if you bother to pre-order something, you should be given the bonus of early delivery -- even if it's by just a day. They sent this stuff out last Friday for a Tuesday release, and most of us didn't get it until at least Tuesday, meaning that we waited longer than if we'd bought it in the store (assuming you can get to a store before your mail comes). They're going to find that no one wants to participate in their future pre-orders due to their lackluster track record in getting those orders to people on time. That's money -
I don't feel threatened at all. It doesn't bother me in the slightest that lots of people don't like this new album. I'm merely pointing out that it works better to say "I hate it" rather than "it sucks." One sounds like an honest opinion; the other sounds like the rantings of a spoiled child. I won't bother to discuss what starting a thread such as this sounds like.

I didn't say your post was the "end all," I said you were acting as the final arbiter of Wilco quality. And to answer your question, it was very much implied. Examples:

So, the original poster is yet another person who doesn't like the "direction" the band is heading. Bands change. Get used to it. I didn't like the direction R.E.M. went after Lifes Rich Pageant. You know what I did? I just didn't listen to their new stuff much. Did I bitch about it? OK, honestly, a little, yeah. But the world didn't end, and it really didn't affect my life, and R.E.M. continued on and put out a lot more records, and they still do. Some of them have been good, and some of them have been not so good. It doesn't really matter to me. I'll check in with them when they put out go

Saw 'em last year, and I concur: go see these guys if you can. Fagen's still got the pipes (mostly), and the band they've put together is top notch.
-
Huh. I checked late last night and it wasn't. I guess I should have checked again this morning.
-
Has it leaked, or did you get an advance copy?

If Louris could write halfway decent lyrics, they'd all be great records. But sadly, the post-Olson ones are only "good," despite sounding fantastic. The lyrics on The Sound of Lies make me cringe.

That's crazy talk. Stern built the NBA into a juggernaut, after being a marginal league for decades. Sure, he had some help -- Jordan started in the NBA the year he became commissioner -- but much of Stern's genius was in understanding how to exploit his stars to help the league. He also has been the driving force behind the league's heightened profile overseas. It's reasonable to assume that the NBA would not be quite so international if Stern had not been the commissioner. Sure, he's had his gaffes -- the dress code, the universally hated microfiber basketball -- but his successes have f

Whoops ... I hadn't noticed that MrRain422 had already posted this article. I deleted the article from this post to save some screen space.

You used to be nicer. Maybe a little, anyway.

Actually, I think I misspoke (mistyped?). There appears to be a .MOV file on the CD. I haven't had any luck accessing it from my work PC ... I'll try again when I get home.

Not a word.

Don't forget Bill Buckner.

If it's not, I'll blame Hitler. Or maybe Falwell.

The "bonus CD" (which is actually the "deluxe" package) includes the DVD, and that's what makes it "deluxe." There are no extra tracks. Oh, and I just dashed home real quick to pluck mine off the doorstep. Haven't had a chance to open everything yet. Damn, 180-g vinyl is thick and heavy.

click I'd be lying if I said I was going to miss him, but it's sad nonetheless.
