  1. pussy. Yes, I imagine he is into pussy.
  2. Also: be sure to videotape this and post it on YouTube.
  3. Really digging this new Portastatic. Thanks to the VC "now playing" crew for putting me onto this one.
  4. We had this game when I was a kid where one of us would lie in the gutter, splayed out as if injured, and when a car stopped, the rest of us would pummel it with water balloons while the kid in the gutter got up and ran away. The cops made us stop.
  5. One of the other teams in our league was called "Seldom Sober" and they took their beers out into the field with them. I'm not sure they won any games.
  6. Pick me up a copy of Joe Pernice's book related to Meat Is Murder. I don't have Tower or Virgin around here.
  7. That's just crazy talk. I know what you're saying ... I'm just a fan of the 16-inch game.
  8. There is supposedly a ghost in the Civic Theater where I spent a lot of time as a kid. It makes the requisite odd noises, and among other things, it's been rumored to play the piano in the downstairs green room -- in the dark, of course. I was down there working on something one night and someone hit the power for that part of the building. I heard the piano start to play at the other end of the long room, just as I was yelling that I was still downstairs and would you please turn the power back on. The lights came back on, the piano stopped, and by the time I turned to look, there was no one
  9. Eeehhhhhhxxxssssssselllllllent. I think that's it for my nitpicking, thanks! Out of curiosity, is that a personal preference setting now, or did you just do away with it for the whole board? I couldn't find anything in my settings when I looked a few minutes ago. Also: I'm not sure how you're randomizing your avatar, but it's teh coolness.
  10. My 16-inch league was co-ed (or "co-rec," as they say). We had several women who were very good softball players and who preferred the 16-inch game. We played up on Peterson -- I think the place was called Hollywood Park. Our team was mostly young people -- the oldest person was a woman who was around 40. Man, I miss that league. That was ... wow, almost fifteen years ago. I grew up in Michigan, but I knew about 16-inch softball. I even had a ball from the time I was four or five. My family has strong Chicago ties and history on both sides, though, so that's hardly surprising.
  11. I KNOW!!!!11!!! I SAID THE F-WORD AND EVERYTHING!!!@!!
  12. You'd think so, but he was quite an intelligent guy too. And really nice. And he sort of looked like a young Paul Newman. In fact, there really wasn't a bad thing about him ... which was more than enough to make me hate him, of course. Except I couldn't. Because he was a friend. And played on my team. And was such a nice guy and all.
  13. Once when I was home alone, I stubbed my toe and screamed out an incredibly toxic barrage of profanity, but I suddenly stopped because I thought maybe my late grandmother would hear me, even though I don't believe in any of that stuff. That's about it, really.
  14. Certainly not as hard as a baseball or cricket ball, but a brand-new 16-inch softball is still a pretty formidable object when it's streaking across the diamond toward your face at a tremendous speed. Seriously, that shortstop had a hell of an arm. He was a three-sport scholarship athlete in college -- one of those guys who was quarterback on the football team and shortstop on the baseball team. I could watch that all day.
  15. That sucks. In my opinion, it's a far superior version of the game, at least if we're talking about slow-pitch. This administration's policy is not to comment on ongoing investigations.
  16. Can we do away with the "This post has been edited by : Date, Time" messages? I hate that crap, especially since I'm the kind of person who frequently goes back and adds stuff to posts within a minute or two of submitting them. I think I've seen on other boards a checkbox option that users could mark to suppress that message.
  17. Circumference. It's a crazy kind of softball played mostly in Chicago. I played for a couple of years when I lived there -- and frankly, I prefer it to "normal" softball -- except for the whole permanently-injured-fingers part. Also: the ball's really not that "soft."
  18. Who are you calling "you lot"? I, for one, used to play first base in a 16-inch softball league. No "mittens" allowed. Our shortstop had a Nolan Ryan-like arm. I think my fingers are permanently disfigured.
  19. Yes, but can you edit posts without that little "edited by" message appearing? edit: I edited this just to see if it happens to me, and it does.
  20. What is there to say except...
