I'd do it for Chex mix too, but it would have to be homemade, and I would need creative control over what goes into it.

And yet, he still sucks.

Lonoong SONGS that you wish would go on even longer
cryptique replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yeah, personally I'd have to strongly disagree on that one. The na-na-na-na-na-na part at the end is already about three minutes too long. -
There are kids' curling camps all over (in Canada, anyway). What I couldn't find was an actual charity that sends underprivileged kids to curling camps.
-
You were honorable enough to come through on part one of that ... I actually did a bit of a search after you made your pledge to try to find such a charity, but didn't find anything. I think you get a pass on part two.

Can't see it at work, but I'm assuming it's the NBC promo for Leno's return to 11:35 with a certain Radiohead song substituted for "Get Back." Brilliant.

I doubt it ... the photos all seem to be from Vancouver, and a few are from the construction of the Olympic curling venue.

Lonoong SONGS that you wish would go on even longer
cryptique replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
I doubt there's a single song longer than five or six minutes that I wish would go on longer. All good things must come to an end eventually, and the longer they go on, the greater the chance that they'll cease to be good. -
good albums that are way too long
cryptique replied to Vacant Horizon's topic in Someone Else's Song
This. When they add songs on a reissue (typically B-sides, demos, outtakes, alternate takes, etc.), I usually skip those because they weren't part of the artist's original vision for the album. It's nice to have those tracks, and I listen to them once in a while as a separate exercise, but generally I don't like to muddy up the original work by including extra tracks (or excluding tracks from the original tracklist). -
I do think they could spice curling up a bit by allowing checking.

Who's to say what should and shouldn't be in the Olympics? Ping pong is in the Olympics, but baseball isn't. From an American perspective, this makes no sense. From the perspective of a country where table tennis is a passion, it's perfectly logical. Why is shooting in the Olympics? Archery? The winter Olympics are short on events anyway, at least when compared to the summer games. I have no problem with curling being included (and personally, given the chance, I'd banish figure skating and ice dancing, but they pump up the TV ratings so it'll never happen).

Hater. Love curling. Hope to try it myself someday. Because we're near the border, we get CBC in our cable lineup and I get to watch a lot of tournaments.

But on that song it sucks. It's not just that they sing along, it's that they sing the verses and Jeff doesn't. Bleah.

Dear Wilco, Please stop ruining this song by having the audience sing it. Love, cryptique

Going to Prague, Vienna and Budapest!
cryptique replied to remphish1's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I think I gave a mistaken impression ... I spent considerable time in Europe when I was 20, so I'm well-acquainted with the trains, etc. Now at 41, for some reason I'm intimidated, but mostly because there are so many places I want to see that I can't decide where to go in the limited time that I'll have. My companion and I both want to get back to places we've been before, but we also want to blaze new trails. Also, the cost is pretty intimidating, but that holds true anytime I'm looking at airfares. -
Going to Prague, Vienna and Budapest!

We've been contemplating a European jaunt this summer, and this same trio of cities has come up as one possibility. If you don't mind me asking, where are you flying into? Are you renting a car? I'm pretty intimidated by the whole booking-a-European-vacation thing, so maybe other people's stories will inspire me to sack up and get it done. -
The Bulls traded John Salmons and some second-round picks to the Bucks for Hakim Warrick and Joe Alexander(?). Sad to see Salmons go. Don't know anything about Warrick. Never heard of Alexander. There's also talk of Tyrus Thomas to the Bobcats for the expiring contracts of Acie Law and Flip Murray.

I'm a curling fan, but I would agree that it's a game, not a sport. In a similar vein, figure skating is an athletic activity, but not a sport. Anything that's judged, regardless of the athletic ability required to participate, is not a sport. I'm looking at you, gymnastics, and you, half-pipe snowboarding ... among many others. Just my opinion, naturally.

Plane crashes into building in Austin, TX
cryptique replied to PopTodd's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Much of what he says about the system is sadly true. Nevertheless, his note does suggest that he was more interested in blaming the system than in accepting any real responsibility for his own predicament. The guy definitely caught some bad breaks, but plenty of people have successfully navigated the very system that he believed was so maliciously stacked against him. -
Huh. Yeah. What site is that?

I want to talk about it regularly, but I'm not able to follow the European leagues as closely as I'd like. Maybe I should spring for that sports package... I too have read encouraging things about Davies' recovery, but even if he fully recovers from his injuries, it seems far-fetched to think that he'd be at match fitness in time for the World Cup. Regardless, it's great to hear that he's coming back strong. If I'm not mistaken, both Donovan and Altidore have recently scored goals in the EPL. Good to see they're getting some playing time there.
