  1. I'm a short-legged, long-torso'd person also. I'm 6'1" but when I'm sitting it's like I'm 6'4" or taller. This isn't really a peeve of mine, as such, but it explains why people behind me at seated events sometimes get a bit pissy, which is related to a pet peeve: people who seem to think that because I'm tall, I should sit or stand in the back. Sorry, I can't help being tall, and I like having good seats as much as anyone else does. Ticketmaster doesn't give me the choice to buy last-row seats, and I wouldn't even if they did.
  2. This is obviously part of the insidious Gay Agenda.
  3. A new single, "Saturday Sun," is available for download here. They ask you for some information and you may end up on their mailing list.
  4. MP3 of the song "Jacqueline Susann" from the forthcoming Pernice Brothers album Goodbye, Killer (out 6/15) available here.
  5. Aw, man, I knew I forgot something. They had them at the store I went to, but I neglected to pick one up.
  6. I didn't honestly think I would get there early enough to snag a copy of Kicking Television, and that proved to be true. The dude said they only had two copies and they were both gone within a half hour of opening. I picked up the Chronic Town vinyl, the Ted Leo 7", and a few other odds and ends.
  7. Robyn Hitchcock is also releasing Propellor Time on limited edition cassette. I won't be buying one, but I love that he's doing this.
  8. You're not the only one. Better late than never.
  9. Still listening to this album WAY too often. Didn't know they'd played Craig Ferguson -- thanks for posting.
  10. I would start with the self-titled album. It's their best, and one of my favorite albums of all time. That said, the live release looks like it'll be a pretty good overview.
  11. Dave Parker was amazing. Maybe not quite a Hall-of-Famer strictly by the numbers, but he'd be in if I had anything to do with it.
  12. The turf was really crappy, too. Lots of patches in the infield. Looked like crap, even on our little 13" black and white TV.
  13. Jerry Rice to play in Nationwide Tour golf event Awesome.
  14. Candlestick had turf in the '70s. That's how I first knew it (from television). Fortunately they'd switched to grass by '79, when I saw a doubleheader there.
  15. Other way around. But yes, that happened.
  16. It's a long way from how I remember it. I believe at one time, not too long ago, it broke down like this: AMERICAN LEAGUE East Baltimore - grass Boston - grass Chicago - grass Cleveland - grass Detroit - grass New York - grass Toronto - turf West California - grass Kansas City - turf Milwaukee - grass Minnesota - turf Oakland - grass Seattle - turf Texas - grass NATIONAL LEAGUE East Chicago - grass Montreal - turf New York - grass Philadelphia - turf Pittsburgh - turf St. Louis - turf West Atlanta - grass (I could have sworn it was turf at some point, but I think I'm wrong) Cincinn
  17. I'm not even much of a Ben Folds fan ... I just have a feeling he'd make a great late-night bandleader.
  18. I actually kind of like Steve Zahn, but I agreed with my girlfriend's comment on that role (so far): "It's too ... Steve Zahn."
  19. Meh. Let him go. Conan can do better than Max. Maybe Ben Folds would take the gig.
  20. Really enjoyed the premiere (had to watch it a day late via on-demand). Not a whole lot of storytelling yet -- just establishing characters -- but they've created quite a foundation on which to build. This episode definitely whetted my appetite for more.
  21. Looks good. Glad there won't be any more Hump-dome baseball. So, who's still playing baseball on artificial turf? Tampa Bay, Toronto ... is that it?
  22. Go Coyotes! Failing that, go whomever the Red Wings play next!
  23. Yup. Not ideal ... but then, maybe TBS will be more willing to let him do his show his way, and less concerned with ratings than Fox would have been. We'll see. I'm just glad I'll get to watch new shows starting in the fall. Here's another link
