I love the sound, but it's the confluence of several great things for me: vinyl, Wilco, live. If pacakaging might be a deciding factor for you, it's really not all that impressive. A sturdy box to hold four 180-g LPs, plus a small poster, plus a pretty minimal gatefold booklet. The records themselves are just in white sleeves. I'm sure someone will eventually do a high-quality rip of the bonus tracks, though it may take a while to hit the web. edit: I guess that rip has already hit the web, but not where I can find it.

I think Obama himself makes the decision now. If he hears about some crackpot in Denver collecting rocks, it won't exactly help your chances...

Both my school and the one across from Lammy made the top three! Thanks everyone!

Hope you have a great one, Lou.

I love that, actually.

My girlfriend is addicted to this show. She's able to watch it because we get CBC on our cable system, being close to the Canadian border. We're hoping to switch from Comcast to AT&T U-Verse (if AT&T ever gets our street up and running on that service), but I don't think U-Verse includes CBC, which may cause her to veto the whole U-Verse idea.

I use the ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite, or whatever it's called. It's not free, but it seems to work well. I just re-read this thread. It's pretty sad that I still haven't done anything about the issue that I first posted ... though I did recently confirm that the speakers aren't the problem. So I guess I should replace my sound card.

...and thus ends the list of good things about Crocs.

Understood. But there's no way that school is even half as cool as mine. Mostly because I didn't go there.

The twenty-years-since-college thing is freaking me out a bit more, but, yeah.

My high school, Kalamazoo Central, is one of six national finalists vying for the honor of having President Obama give their commencement speech this year. I graduated from there 24 years ago, but I'd still love for the kids there to have this opportunity. If you're so inclined, please go here, go to the Kalamazoo Central video, and rate it a "5." Thanks! (And of course, feel free to vote for one of the other schools, but I'd very much appreciate it if you could give KCHS a 5 and help them out.)

This was unnecessary. So, what, skinny people don't have B.O.?

Success! Arrived today. Holy crap, I guess I didn't expect the box to be so deep. There were two layers of bubble wrap inside the sealed box to help cushion the records during transit.

Just bought my tickets today for the May 21st show in East Lansing

In my experience, the only people who clog up the escalators in the London Underground are clueless American tourists.

More on the whole "pass on the left" peeve, from an experience I had yesterday... OK, granted, it was my fault showing up at a local park and expecting to get some exercise at the same time that a March Of Dimes walk was happening, but let's review the facts: 1. It's a public park. 2. It was weekend morning, a peak time for park usage. 3. The March Of Dimes had not reserved the entire 5-kilometer, paved, two-lane trail, they were merely using it. Given these facts, I believe I had a reasonable expectation that those participating in the March Of Dimes walk would use the trail properly --

I struck out on Record Store Day so I ordered from Kung Fu later that day, and got a shipping notification on the 22nd (Thursday). The tracking suggests it'll be delivered tomorrow.

Few things make me happier than watching my cats sleeping contentedly with big cat grins on their cat faces. Especially when they're on their backs with their cat toes pointing at the ceiling.

This. Also, restrooms where they've installed the new, enclosed toilet paper dispensers so low on the wall that your wrist has to be double-jointed to get paper out the bottom of them. GAAAAHHHH!

When I was a younger, angrier man, I kicked a few sizable dents into the sides of vehicles whose owners did this kind of shit to me. Can't say I feel too bad about it, either. I wouldn't do it today, mostly because I wear flimsier shoes and there are surveillance cameras everywhere.
