  1. AGIB leaked around my birthday three years ago, so maybe it will happen again.
  2. It's a great projective test. I liked the egg - full of possibility! And it had that whole fertility/birth/death symbolism going on too.
  3. Well, it's still funny (if inaccurate). I hope you guys are able to get tix somehow. The Arcade Fire are a lot of fun live. I remember Carl Newman compared them to the Who in 1967 or something, and I thought that's probably not far from the truth.
  4. I love the Arcade Fire, but I thought Jake (from GloNo) summed it up perfectly:
  5. Seems appropriate. I wonder what (who?) the falcon represents. I love the bubblegum pun (intentional or not) of the Summerteeth cover art. And the fact that it manages to look innocent, yet creepy at the same time.
  6. There's also the super cool Murderecords logo.
  7. It reminds me of the 10,000 or so crows that roost near BCIT in Vancouver (Douglas Coupland wrote about them in jPod). In the winter months, when I get off work, the sky is literally black with crows. Very spooky and trippy!
  8. Hey, just because it's lame, doesn't mean it can't be fun. Some nice picks!
  9. Especially Y doing the guitar solo. I can also imagine that Y guy doing most of the songs on AM (they definitely match his style and sense of humour).
  10. "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart" - Leonard Cohen

  12. What band or solo artist (living or dead) do you think would be able to pull off a good Wilco cover? I think Sloan (with Jay Ferguson on vocals) would do a great version of "Candyfloss."

    Glenn Solo

Nels had plenty of cool toys, but I don't know if any of them were new (I've been out of the loop, doing the Mommy thing). I was thinking that he'll need to wear a tool belt on stage soon. Here's an article about Glenn from the Tucson Weekly.
  14. Here's my "review." http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?s=&...st&p=827067

    Glenn Solo

I saw Glenn and Nels perform at Richard's on Richards in Vancouver last night. The crowd was sparse, but every single person in the room seemed totally into it. Glenn remarked that we were "so nice and quiet and pleasant looking." Glenn's albums are amazing, but seeing him perform takes his greatness to another level. Last night, my husband and I stood in the balcony over the stage so we were able to get a bird's eye view. He opened with a "work in progress" (I forget the title, sorry) and the rest of the setlist was very similar to the Sunken Treasure tour. Monkey Chant is a masterpiece
  16. Congratulations and best wishes for an easy delivery. Yay, babies!
  17. Umm, I thought I did. Were you interested in band specific sites, or music geeks in general?
  18. GloNo is a great music site and their msg board regulars are funny, smart, and cool. I used to post there quite often, but I haven't had much to add to the conversation lately. There's a pretty high "signal to noise ratio" and Jake is one of the best moderators around, IMO. VC has grown from a small town to a sprawling metropolis as the band has increased in popularity, but the "community" can't be beat. If you need information or help getting tickets to a show, the people here are incredibly kind and generous. People like Narz and Donna set the tone very early (and Kyle and the current s
