I actually like the 1st one on the new CD. To me, Shonna's vocals in I'm Sorry Huston sounds *a lot* like Neko Case -
did anyone notice Nels go a little batshit during one of the first songs to rock out. he wa splaying his slide & I think he cut his finger or caught it soemhow because he spun around & flung his slide into the crowd and then was shaking his finger like it was hurt. at the end of the song Jeff asked him if he was ok & got the person to pass the slide back up and Nels apologized to whoever it hit

I'm surprised to hear that. I have never seen a show at Const Hall where I even thought the sound was anything more than a muddy mess. I wish bands would bypass Constitution Hall for The Warner Theater. Widespread Panic has been playing there the last couple years & the sound is very rich het tomthub: I usually use a good pic when I post my torrents. would you mind if I used one of those?
-
no doubt. that Constitution Hall show with Sonic Youth was about as impersonal & low energy as it gets
-
etree doesn't allow compressed streams to be posted but there were several audience tapers there. I'll have mine up shortly

thanks, I'm e-blushing! thankfully I get to tape that venue a lot and thru trial & error know how to make my gear sound its best in there
-
there are 3 seperate sets of mics on that stand. A set of "full bodies" on the top & 2 sets of compact mics clamped to the same stand. There was another stand right directly in front of this one as well that had 1 other set of mics on it. great pics in that other thread by the way

huh? have you ever used bit torrent? the fact that you don't need to have anything to trde or send blanks for a b&p and the ease & speed which it allows a show to spread are the reasons it has become so popular. I for one hope Wilco doesn't go the instant live (or "encore series") and start selling their shows. The grassroots, open source taping & trading have helped a lot of non Wilco fans get shown the light over the last few years
-
this year especially he's been playing a lotof the back catalogue. Those older songs seem to have replaced teh Dead covers he was playing a lot last year that's the song Neal Casal sings.
-
man that's a great setlist and a much longer show rthan he has been playing
-
I think the Shins are a pretty good stuio band. Live they are shoe-gazing, mopey hipsters as are most of the crowd (ha ha).
-
nope, his cancel was to film a video with cast members of some lame ass TV show (October Road maybe??) that uses a bunch of his songs
-
yea Spoon also cancelled 2 back to back nights at the 9:30 Club in DC to play one opening set for the shins at merriweather post what does the record label have to do with cancelling shows on a tour? (rhetorical question. the answer is nothing) and I don't know what "spitting my dummy" means ....... but I like it!
-
not exactly right. They are using a program called "sandvining" to throttle upload speeds and constantly cause disconnections. It doesn't affect downloading, only uploading. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21376597/
-
at least 2 tapers. One said his recording was poor. the other will be seeding soon at etree. I'll post a link here when I see it up
-
that's weird about the Heartless Bastards breaking up. Something tells me that's just some normal band frustration & give & take instead of a true break up. They have dates still listed & lasy Fall put out there 2nd consequitive well reviewed album on Fat Possum. They have had a nice run this year opening for Lucinda Williams, Hold Steady & Wilco in addition to their own club tours
-
you know with a couple days to think about it, I still really loved the Charlottesville show. Sure, while basking in the post show glow we all think we just saw the best show ever played. In this case, it probably wasn't *the* best I have seen out of 30+ Wilco, 3 Uncle Tupelo & 4-5 Tweedy solo but certainly the longest and in the top few I have seen. As the show started with a beautiful Sunken Treasure I thought what other band would (or could) pull one of the slowest songs in their catalogue to open a general admission, open floor show with a boisterous crowd & then just nail it like
-
come on dude, you saw a 2 1/2 hour tour ender and 98% of your review was about the crowd? sure it sucks but that's been happening at GA shows since before we were born.
-
its mine. I was wide awake after we got back home so I cobnvetred it & got it up before I went to bed http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=510402
