  1. I agree. I think the old KISS -- Keep It Simple, Stupid -- is a good thing to make note of when playing music.
  2. As with oh so many music lists....Technical ability and musicianship are two (often overlooked) different things.
  3. I agree. I thought they used to make all their higher-end heads in combo models. Seems I remember a friend had a JCM-2000 (??) 2x12 combo and it awesome. Not to mention, it beat the hell out of hauling a half stack.
  4. Does a lot of....stuff....come out when the water comes out? I feel as though I might be running at a slightly higher booger count, given it's allergy season. I wouldn't mind lowering said count.
  5. Wasn't it Neil Young that showed up and played certain songs two and three times because he kept screwing them up? Other Notable Unplugged Appearances for me: Nirvana -- arguably the best ever Clapton -- simply great Oasis -- Lead singer too drunk to play and the other Gallagher did all the singing, which was far better.
  6. I worked as Jewel's guitar tech last April and, consequently, met her. I also met Rich from the country outfit Big and Rich, though I wasn't aware he was someone famous at the time. He was loud and drank a lot of whiskey and Jewel was quite gorgeous. EDIT: fixed a typo.
  7. Unique...how? Like, yuck I hate this or Wow, this feels cool. Perhaps personal preference.
  8. I had his last album, but found it to be too much like a lot of Jack Johnson's material....only worse.
  9. I have a lot of sinus problems....perhaps this would alleviate some of them.
  10. Kalle, thank you very much for a ton of great info. As a fellow musician, (and I bet you agree) I find it imperitive to know a wide variety of musical theory. Whether you actively apply it to music you are writing or apply it out of your subconcious is another argument, but I find in important and very interesting to examine. I'm assuming that it is possible to apply the different Harmonic, Melodic and Minor scales over their respective keys (and major keys?) to some up with some really cool soloing ideas. Thanks again, --Andy
  11. Heartbreaker (his first solo album), Strangers Almanac, Cold Roses.....and Gold, despite what others say FYI -- since it seems you're new to him, Whiskeytown is his old band. This group is responsible for Strangers Almanac. There are also some really good songs on the other (2 official??) Whiskeytown albums, but I don't think those albums are on par with Strangers Almanac as a complete product.
  12. Thanks for the info, Kalle. Given some of your other posts, I figured your (incredible) knowledge of theory could answer this question. So, across the board, in a minor key, the major chords fall on the 3rd, 6th and 7th -- if I follow correctly. Just as in a major key, the major chords fall on I, IV and V. BTW, I think I noticed from one of the age threads, your're fairly young (16?). How on earth have you accomplished this much knowledge of theory? I'm simply very impressed. EDIT: So, I played around with some notes and what not on paper and have some more brain picking () Is the 7th
  13. Perhaps Mr. Heartbreak could dig up some information? I've always been interested in having this done. I used to play music with a guy who had it done and he said it made music ultra-clear sounding upon having it done.
  14. Must be the ink from the tatoo soaking in.
  15. Good read. How about the spelling "Hate It Hear" ? Is that correct? I always thought it was "Here". I'm not near the album, so I can't check.
  16. I'm the other way around. Never 'shrooms, once coke. All I know is that it wasn't as heady as I expected, in a sense of drunkeness or being stoned. It made me feel super positive, energetic and great.....for 20 minutes. But you can't sleep...at all. And I know what they mean by the comedown -- it is awful. Like the flu times 10. Once was enough.
  17. Between every word you type, put 10-15 (your choice) periods. Then, whilst reading aloud, or to one's self, let and audible "bleep" represent every period.
  18. Music theory question: So in major keys, chords I, IV and V represent the major chords and all others are minor. Given this, Key of C = C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am, Bm My question is, if you are playing in minor key where do your major and minor chords fall. Is it exactly opposite?
  19. Really? I kinda think that a drug that causes hallucinations would be a bigger deal than one that doesn't. Perhaps that's just me. I feel that shrooms are past pot, but below coke and acid and x are worse than coke. I guess it's just opinion, experience and...................periods.
