  1. Anytime I'm taking an extended road trip on the highway I usually pop in Kicking Television. During my undergrad years it soundtracked a lot of late night trips down I's-70 and 79 from Wheeling, WV to Pittsburgh. --Mike
  2. Wilco: 6-21-2003: Pittsburgh 6-11-2004: Bonnaroo 10-7-2006: Tall Stacks, Cincinnati 10-19-2007: Pittsburgh. The first one was probably my favorite of the four, they were great in Oct. 2007 but that venue (Duquesne University's basketball gym) wasn't that great, and our seats were at a pretty weird angle. --Mike
  3. I think it's because the Giants won the Super Bowl the year before, people might have been upset, but then they watched the tape of the Helmet catch, and put on their 18-1 t-shirts. After Roethlisberger to Holmes last year, pretty much anything the Steelers do this year is just gravy, unless they get beat in the playoffs by the Ravens, then I'll probably be pissed off. --Mike
  4. Eli played wonderfully in that game. His turnaround from the end of 2007 onward has been amazing, there are only a few other quarterbacks in the league I'd rather have. --Mike
  5. I understood what you meant, I thought it was fine. --Mike
  6. I hate saying this, but it actually looks like he has the pieces there this year. That team reminds me a lot of the 2002 Mountaineers (his second year there). --Mike
  7. And now we can add the Cowboys to that list. --Mike
  8. They'll either get the Redskins at home next week or beat the Rams at home in week eight or the Browns at home in week eleven. --Mike
  9. I was just upset you left out Bob Egan. --Mike
  10. Confusing those is something I'm want to do. . I'm have My Old School on right now, doesn't sound boring to me at all. Maybe I'm not listening hard enough. --Mike
  11. To me this is the troll post. --Mike
  12. I believe the politically correct term is short bridge dwelling individual, Crow. They can call each other trolls, but prefer us not to use that term. And yeah, if you want to just copy your "nice first post" thing from before, and put it here, that'd be fine. --Mike
  13. On any message board for anything there's going to be a bit of dissent, while I understand your problem, Crow, I think this and the several other times you've brought this up are a bit of an overreaction. It's not like the reaction to even the last two albums have been uniformly negative, and certainly haven't been that different than the way say the Radiohead board reacted to In Rainbows. The current direction of the band just doesn't sync up with the way some people who post here want them to sound, but it's been that way on every record since AM, and it's that way with any large fanbase
  14. Pretty dreadful first couple of shows, but the lineup picks up from October 24th on. --Mike
  15. Yet another reason why I love this band. --Mike
  16. You couldn't have Pavement with out Nastanovich though. Limited as his skills might have been, he was absolutely perfect for that band, and you are forgetting the occasional Linda McCartney-esque Moog parts he's occasionally add as well. Bez was the Monday's drug supplier in the early days, so he gets a pass as well. --Mike
  17. . If you could bet on predictions for Pitchfork review scores, BULLZEYE's over/under would be set at 0.9. --Mike
  18. I seem to remember Crow doing the "troll picture" in response to non-troll posts before. I think he just uses as it a coverall term to describe anyone he disagrees with, take it as a term of affection, urnadterp, and welcome to the boards. --Mike
  19. Wonderful find, I always wondered about where that cover came from. --Mike
  20. It was the top story on my entertainment google news feed. I had no idea so many people outside of the indie community cared about this band. --Mike
  21. The 1995-96 Bulls (72-10) swept the Magic in the Eastern finals, the year the Pacers took them seven was 1997-98, Jordan's last year. A lot of those years run together a bit for me too, I could have sworn they beat the Jazz all three times in the second three-peat. --Mike
  22. Do you think that'll ever get re-issued? The complete recording sessions one is probably most fascinating read on them I've ever owned, but as I understand in the last several years it's become almost impossible to find. --Mike
  23. The music is still way more interesting than the backbiting though. Anyone who's ever done anything creative in a group has similar stories of disagreements here and there, thankfully for most of us it isn't then documented in thousands of books and interviews, but I am not sure anyone has done anything as well as the Beatles made music. And I am not sure it's a tragedy they eventually split up either, they had given us plenty, and I am not sure how excited I'd have been for the Beatles eventual Stones-like decline over the years. Do we really want Beatles at the Speed of Sound? Let it Be was
  24. Back in the day Pitchfork would just run almost any internet rumor they came across, like the Neutral Milk Hotel is coming back!!! hoax from three summers ago, but I'd hope that they're big enough now where they'd actually want to fact check. --Mike
