  1. I think it might be time for my annual viewing of that set. Have you seen the director's cut versions floating around out there? I've seen that it's been up on You Tube before, but I have never actually invested the time to check them out. --Mike
  2. Holy Shit: Pavement Reunion is Real!. I'm only on board if Gary Young makes an appearance... But seriously everyone needs more Bob Nastanovich in their lives this is great. --Mike
  3. He at least has the manic pace of Lester Bangs down. --Mike
  4. Is that your official review of the record? --Mike
  5. Whatever happened to those guys after the movie? ==Mike
  6. It was definitely one of the soundtracks to my summer. It rarely left the car's CD changer. --Mike
  7. You clearly don't get Panther. Maybe you should read it harder. --Mike
  8. This and Califone are my two favorite releases of the year. --Mike
  9. Actually, Glenn isn't on this record. Jim played all the instruments. New York Times: Jim O'Rourke-Once Insider, Now Outsider, and Liking It
  10. I am now ready to declare them the best working band in America today. Great album. --Mike
  11. Doesn't Ohio State have a close game against a weaker non-conference opponent every year? They always win them, but I think Tressel only likes to blow out Michigan. Anyway, USC looked a lot more impressive, and I am not sure if I trust Pryor to win a big game yet. But it will probably be closer than it was last year. --Mike
  12. Vibes. I was bitching about WVU only beating Liberty by 13 throughout most of the afternoon until I saw that score. --Mike
  13. Uh oh: Merriman Charged With Battery --Mike
  14. I think he would have got like six-seven games if he had chilled out after just punching the guy (I'm with bobs here, the dude deserved a punch in the mouth), but the ugliest part for me to watch was the aftermath and him going after the fans and then seeing him basically carried off the field. I don't think the Ducks will miss his 6 carries, -8 yards stat line. Do you know how many times a replay of Woody Hayes infamous Gator Bowl punch was shown during that actual game? 0, and the camera sort of cut away immediately after it happened on the live feed (or at least the version of the l

  16. Yeah, both of those songs were on one list. But nothing that I would have been embarrassed to say made the final cut came even close. Fixed the Face typo, my mistake there that song was Impossible Germany, I forgot what song was what on album for a minute. --Mike
  17. I'm pretty sure almost every Wilco album cut from YHF, AGIB and SBS got at least one vote. Nothing really emerged from SBS that was appearing on the top of a lot lists, but You Are My Face and Impossible Germany were close. WTA faired the worse out of all the albums, but I'd like to think that might have more to do with the fact that it's newer than to make a quality judgment on the material. --Mike
  18. Yeah, it was in the low 20's. I think people might be a little burned out on it because how much they play it live. Then again Jesus, etc. did well it gets about the same amount of plays. The wide range of votes may have watered down some of the choices. At one point all of the top five songs were from YHF, until Pot Kettle Black fell off a bit, I was seriously considering trying to throw some sort of curve in for more balance, but ultimately things came together pretty nicely, I think.

  20. 1. Poor Places It's my father's voice trailing off Sailors sailing off in the morning For the air-conditioned rooms At the top of the stairs His jaw's been broken His bandage is wrapped too tight His fangs have been pulled And I really want to see you tonight There's bourbon on the breath Of the singer you love so much He takes all his words from the books That you don't read anyway His jaw's been broken His bandage is wrapped too tight His fangs have been pulled And I really want to see you tonight Someone ties a bow In my backyard to show me love My voice is climbing walls Smoking

Ashes of American Flags The cash machine is blue and green For a hundred in twenties and a small service fee I could spend three dollars and sixty-three cents On Diet Coca-Cola and unlit cigarettes I wonder why we listen to poets When nobody gives a fuck How hot and sorrowful This machine begs for luck All my lies are always wishes I know I would die if I could come back new I want a good life With a nose for things A fresh wind and bright sky To enjoy my suffering A hole without a key If I break my tongue Speaking of tomorrow How will it ever come? All my lies are always wishes
