  1. From the full-page proofer about 10 feet behind my desk in the Cleveland Plain Dealer newsroom.
  2. Now that the show is officially bad, I might start watching again. I'm sure NBC will be pleased.
  3. seems like only yesterday they were the Creem Profile.
  4. I'm sure Charlie's hoping the bats come alive tonight, Phils get a nice lead and Lee's pitch count stays low. If it goes 7, Lee's the first guy out of the pen. Really Pedro and Blanton didn't get rocked, and you have to give Hamels a shot. But it's been the offense that's killed the Phils, a lot of missed opportunities. Last year they left 45 runners on in 5 WS games, but the Rays did not make they pay. The Yanks ain't the Rays.
  5. I can't hear a single. Maybe I can help with a re-mix, or something.
  6. I'm guessing you mean Lidge, right? I can't blame Charlie or any of the pitchers. It's the offense that's come up small. All those three-run homers have become solo homers. Man on 2nd and 0 out and you get two straight popups. Meanwhile, the Yankees are doing all the little things and tacking on runs.
  7. Pie-splattered comedian Sales dies at 83 By DAVID N. GOODMAN, Associated Press Writer DETROIT – Soupy Sales, the rubber-faced comedian whose anything-for-a-chuckle career was built on 20,000 pies to the face and 5,000 live TV appearances across a half-century of laughs, has died. He was 83. Sales died Thursday night at Calvary Hospice in the Bronx, New York, said his former manager and longtime friend, Dave Usher. Sales had many health problems and entered the hospice last week, Usher said. At the peak of his fame in the 1950s and '60s, Sales was one of the best-known faces in the n
  8. I know I can't wait to see Jay Bennett get sacked in Hi-Def.
  9. To paraphrase John Tudor, "What's it take to umpire a playoff game, a driver's license?"
  10. This should get the taste left by that awful game outta my mouth.
  11. I left the country to see Neko and Wilco. Jeff commented that, following Neko, he must sound like a frog (is that him on the last track of Middle Cyclone?).
  12. I can remember when I was 3 in 1964 running around the house singing/shouting "Hold your hand, hold your hand!" And in 1967 when I saw my dad tapping his fingers to "All You Need Is Love," I knew the end was near. So I was around when it was happening, and just naturally assumed things would keep getting better and better and better . . .
  13. Myself, I'm a bit weary of Misunderstood. Gimme Sunken Treasure ever now and again.
  14. Openers Liam Finn and Eliza Jane Barnes were fun and all, but I'm getting tired of the whole loop thing. Guy I saw at SXSW did "Come Together" with loops, and while it's a neat parlor trick, it gets old pretty quick.
  15. A general thread about Div. III football and no mention of Mount Union?
  16. Through 5 tracks, I'm liking it a lot. will get many, many more plays than Mystics. But I refuse to re-buy for the 5.1 version.
  17. 90 minutes? Note to media: just because you have to leave early doesn't mean the show's over.
  18. Dudes are cutting into my Henry VI Part 2 time.
  19. 2 World Series Titles = classic. not to forget the franchises' first title:
  20. Guy just has to be glib. If you must insert jokes, at least make them funny.
