  1. Jay "Big Jaw" Leno. Now that's funny. Because, you know, he has a big jaw.
  2. Guy who was next to me in line at the Neko Case Austin City Limits taping was an intern on Conan. He said Max is a great guy, Conan not so much.
  3. Ever try laughing all the way to the bank? Not easy.
  4. Really? Hasn't he been making fun of his hair forever? And that letterman clip, moderately amusing if a little drawn out. NBC executives appear to be controlled by drunk drivers from outer space.
  5. Miep Gies, who helped hide Anne Frank, dies at 100
  6. Liked the bit where Gary Oldman shows Conan the raise the head then the eyes thing. I'll be using that next time someone tries to get in front of me at a show.
  7. I've seen Wilco some 15-18 times since 2002. If I never see 'em again, that's a bummer. But I'm not playing ball with this "secondary market." You pay those prices, you just encourage it more. Lots of other great shows out there.
  8. SchulbHub makes it too easy to become an ticket pimp in the comfort of your mom's basement. As with sports, it's just one more reason to stop being a music fan (at least of bands that reach that level). Of course, sports teams actually encourage it - I'm guessing they get a little taste, as well.

Those scurrying letters are quite awful. A throwback to the production guy's high school public access days.
  10. Well, in 100 years you'd better be saying either "Two thousand one hundred ten" or "Twenty one hundred ten." I'll be checking. For me, I'll go with a record.
  11. Not much of a show year for the Tugger - new sked has me working nights wed-sunday, if that's an excuse. Only made it to the Beachland Ballroom once, I think (Hold Steady). Bruce left everyone happy at The Q. Neko 3 times - best in Columbus. A couple good Wilco shows not real memorable (Jeff was down on the Columbus crowd on Jesus etc., but that's not really a great singalong song). I'll try to do better in 2010 - I think Alejandro's at the Beachland in Jan. - would be a good start.
  12. maybe not "plenty." I think they played to 103% capacity last season. Probably the biggest crowd the Nats will see all year. Any word on a Cleveland show? It'll be 2 years in Feb. since their last here.
  13. How do you make rice and beans? I wouldn't mind cutting my food bill a bit. Downloaded a recent springsteen show at MSG, and when Bruce wades into the crowd, all you see around him are cellphones. No one's actually looking at him, they're looking at their cellphones.
  14. I like it when I'm in the same shot with Zooey Deschanel. I like it when I'm in the same shot with Neko Case.
  15. Lee to M's, Halladay to Phils. I know Cliff got dinged around in Sept., but I really, really, really hate dealing a proven postseason performer.
  16. In the book "Brunelleschi's Dome" I read one of the proposals for building the dome was to make a mound of dirt with coins sprinkled in, build the dome around the mound, then allow the public to remove the dirt while they searched for the coins.
  17. Among my faves since I first saw it in 82. Griffith said he would never again play that kind of character again because he found himself acting that way to his friends and family. Ironic that he's best known and beloved as a sheriff when his best performance was as a con man.
  18. Only if Neko leaves the sword at home.
  19. Pre-roid Bruce singing "Racing In The Street" wearing a wife beater. Kinda embarrassing.
  20. And when do we get to hear the mono "Freebird" (and that other song)?
