I think the ending was fitting. Rust had a spiritual experience. It changed him to some extent but we're not meant to know exactly to what extent. Rust and Marty survived a near-fatal experience together, which has resulted in a different dynamic in their relationship, but they still annoy one another. It all sits great with me.

Well, it's certainly bittersweet now that Wilco is ended.

You're a basically happy person with a fantastic family and non-pleated pants. Matthew was speaking more to the tortured souls who could have been great artists if they had not gotten trapped in unrewarding careers and middle-aged angst and pleated suit pants.

He was talking about hope and living a purposeful life.
