  1. Finally got around to reading the Rolling Stone piece. What I'll never get about descriptions of Kiss: in the 70s they wrote a couple dozen incredibly catchy hooks. Their lyrics were drivel but so are the lyrics of about 90% of what gets on the radio (look at the rap that gets airplay). Some of the music is tonally lackluster and/or recorded poorly, but still--they wrote all those great hooks and riffs. So why are they constantly pigeonholed as just being about the flash and sideshow? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. With several exceptions, I listen to the dead for Jerry's playing. In many ways I would rather see a handful of bands cover Dylan tunes these days than watch Dylan do Dylan. Because of how much I love the songs, many of which he now butchers. When I used to live in Dallas I went to a weekly cover gig called the Dead Thing all the freakin time. It actually helped me grow to like a lot of dead tunes that I had sort of ignored before--sheerly from experiencing them from a live band in person. My point being there's something about the dead's music that opens up live. If the band

  17. our racist, sexist, bigoted, misogynistic founding fathers would be outraged at the status of our campaign finance situation and our elections. and our constitution was designed to be changed. it's really tiresome when people's only argument in favor of something is that it is protected by our constitution. at various times our constitution has protected a lot of really horrible behavior.
  18. The first time I heard "You Never Know" I thought it was Seals and Crofts collaborating with discarded members of ELO.
