  1. Big Papi was signing his book in the Barnes & Noble near my office today. The line to get in the store was wrapped all the way around the corner. There were a lot of folks in that line with Yankees hats. I thought that was interesting.
  2. I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One - Yo La Tengo saw them last night at webster hall in NYC. can't get enough.
  3. why was his account suspended? Did he do anything that terrible?
  4. I was thoroughly unimpressed with Obama. For the guy who is supposed to be the most charismatic guy up there, he was far from it. He stumbled over himself in several answers. Accidentally referred to the unethical behavior of a contributor as ethical (e.g., "I have criticized such ethical behavior.") And more importantly, he totally botched the "what if we were attacked" question. He's got a long way to go. Substantive off the cuff issues are not his strong suit.
  5. Haha, sorry man. Just my opinion. Did anyone else here see the debate?? Maybe someone else felt differently...??
  6. He had nothing substantive to say. If he is president tomorrow, he gets us out of Iraq immediately by "diplomacy". Really? And he admitted that he cut Gonzalez some slack because he was hispanic. "I am just being honest" he said. Jeezus. The guy basically admitted to favoring hispanics. In a presidential debate? He's not ready for prime time.
  7. Well, there's nothing wrong with crab cakes, i suppose, but those ain't crab cakes.
  8. I know it's early and I know there were 8 candidates on stage , but I was excited for last night's debate. To see if Obama is ready for prime time, to see if Hillary would set herself apart, to see if anyone else could step up to the plate. I haven't seen the media's take on who won/lost, but watching it, I thought that Clinton separated herself from the pack as someone that could be our next president. Obama seemed mostly rhetoric to me. And stumbled over himself a couple of times. I thought Edwards did a good job, as did Dodd. Richardson made a fool out of himself, as did Ravel (?) t
  9. I still can't listen to some songs that I have put on mix tapes for old girlfriends. Be careful.
  10. I think those are potato pancakes. Mmmmmmm. (crabcakes, people?? really??)
  11. Too funny. In my mind I always had an image of a guy out late getting beers with the fellas, looking at his watch, trying to get home to the wife, and realizing that no matter what -- no matter how fast he rushes -- that he's a bum regardless.
  12. speaking of being a geek, i always assumed the line was "I'm a bum regardless." That is what he sings, right?
  13. no harm no foul in the MattZ rulebook
  14. Do you mean McCartney? If so, I agree. Its the one I like best. The others, not so much. Thats just me.
  15. Mets tie it last night in the bottom of the 10th on a pinch hit solo shot with 2 strikes on pinch hitter Damion Easley. Wow. Then, they win it in the 12th with two outs on a drag bunt single by Chavez scoring a runner from third. I actually don't think it was a squeeze. Wow.
  16. yeah, Maine is the proverbial "Rick Peterson project." If Maine turns out to be halfway decent, Peterson will get all the credit for it, and hopefully we can move on from the Kazmir/VZambrano disaster. Although, I have Kazmir in my rotisserie league and I don't know what his deal is. He hasnt exactly been lights out either. Good job by the Mets last night. Need to beat the bad teams...
  17. Jeez. Halberstam's writing was top notch. I was always a big fan. RIP, David. I am getting really sick of people dying all the time.
  18. If I had known that the Colbert flavor was so hard to find, I would have savored it more when I ate it a few weeks ago. Meaning, I would have finished the pint in 3 minutes flat instead of 2. For those of you out there that can't find it, and are curious if it's as good as it sounds... well, um, the answer is a resounding Yes.
  19. when they say "changed the world" I hope they mean the music world and not the world world
  20. I was a bit frustrated with the episode last night, although I really liked it. Tony contemplating killing Paulie? Story lines seem to come out of left field sometimes. Yes, we know that Paulie has a big mouth, but in a span of 30 minutes in, it's to the point where Tony is considering knocking off Paulie? Really? I suppose the joke about Johnny Sack's wife showed prior evidence of Paulie's big mouth, but had anyone thought about that for the last 10 episodes? I certainly hadn't. And now its worthy of killing one of your oldest and most loyal friends? And as a way of driving home the f
