  1. Exactly. And there is an issue of precedent here too. It's not just about suing after the fact for something that can't be fixed. It's about communicating to companies that they should think twice before doing something like this in the future.
  2. Haha, at least you are honest. He used to be opposed to the the Bush tax cuts (now he wants them permanent). In 1999 he opposed overturning Roe v Wade and he now supports overturning it. He was once a staunch opponent of torture and now splits hairs like a barber on that issue. Those are three biggies off the top of my head.
  3. As a Dem, I am not at all disappointed or frustrated with Obama's "move to the center" (other than my disappointment with the specific policies -- e.g., FISA). He is a politician, and he is proving himself to be an amazing one. This is what politicians do. Frankly, I am more frustrated with my friends -- people who I consider to be really smart people -- who were somehow duped into believing that Obama would not be doing this. And who voted against HRC for these very reasons (e.g., triangulation, saying anything to get elected, etc.). And hey Tweedling -- why are you so focused on what O
  4. Interesting to see Clinton on that list...
  5. From Drudge: Rev. Statement: For any harm or hurt that this hot mic private conversation may have caused, I apologize. My support for Senator Obama_s campaign is wide, deep and unequivocal. I cherish this redemptive and historical moment. _My appeal was for the moral content of his message to not only deal with the personal and moral responsibility of black males, but to deal with the collective moral responsibility of government and the public policy which would be a corrective action for the lack of good choices that often led to their irresponsibility. _That was the context of my pr

  7. El stepped in and expressed much of what I meant better than I could have too. So I won't repeat either. (BTW, we are in Act 3 again, people).
  8. No, that's Act 2. You have to go to Act 3 or let the thread die.
  9. Act 1: topic of thread. Act 2: thread veers off course to discuss Hitler/Bush/God/Skygod Act 3: reasonable efforts at maintaining level headed discourse Act 4: reasonable efforts crash and burn Act 5: thread veers off course to discuss naked women/irrelevant posts/general snarkiness Act 6: thread dies or GoTo Act 3 and repeat.
  10. is he a gin guy? I always assumed he was a whiskey guy.
  11. In 1984 I was hospitalized for approaching perfection. Slowly screwing my way across Europe, they had to make a correction. Broken and smokin' where the infrared deer plunge in the digital snake. I tell you, they make it so you can't shake hands when they make your hands shake. I know you like to line dance, everything so democratic and cool, But baby there's no guidance when random rules. I know that a lot of what I say has been lifted off of men's room walls. Maybe I've crossed the wrong rivers and walked down all the wrong halls. But nothing can change the fact that we used to share a b
  12. I dont think there have to be direct and physical consequences. A reckless statement can inhibit worthy and honest debate.
  13. Sure, but the terrorists yell Allah is great when they attack us, and then we stand on rubble and wave our flags and proclaim God Bless America. Don't get me wrong -- I would never pretend to equate the two. But there is something a bit odd with that picture and it is worth discussing (I'd say). Both groups fall back on their "isms" when they chart their courses of action. And isms in my opinion are not good. Or so said Ferris Bueller. Maybe I am watering down the point that was made above that you took issue with -- it's certainly reckless to argue that Bush is an evangelical nut who
  14. Jules, I understand why you think it's crazy or hyperbolic to mention Bush and Al Qaeda in the same breath (and frankly, I agree with you in large part -- I'd say it is quite a stretch), but I don't understand why you think it's "irresponsible." What does that mean?
  15. Sure, but I dont think we were discussing whether those comments were evidence of him hating Muslims. We were talking about (I think) whether Bush's actions are taken with a view towards good vs evil as defined (in part) by his faith. Christian zeal/religious devotion/no matter what you call it doesnt necessarily require Bush to hate Muslims. Look, I think Mr.Rain made a tortured analogy (no pun intended). But I do think it was an interesting point that deserved more discussion than to be dismissed out of hand. In other words, I am not going to agree that the similarities between Bush an
  16. I'd be interested to read a response to this post from the folks who dismissed MrRain's earlier post as hyperbolic. It may be a matter of degrees, but fewer degrees than most would admit, and everything is a matter of degrees.
  17. from TPM: Sen. John McCain hasn't had good luck joking about Iran. But he tried it again Tuesday. Responding to a question about a survey that shows increased exports to Iran, mainly from cigarettes, McCain said, "Maybe thats a way of killing them." He quickly caught himself, saying "I meant that as a joke" as his wife, Cindy, poked him in the back.
  18. They are good at what they do. Real good. Better than we are at what we do.
  19. It's not the whole thing note for note. It's damn close. I mean damn close, but it's not. I don't know if that was a concerted effort to get around copyright issues, or just evidence of the fact that the chord prorgession is so freaking common, and the walkdowns between the chords are just as common...
  20. I agree with LouieB but I would have used a different emoticon.
  21. CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs have acquired pitcher Rich Harden from the Oakland Athletics in a six-player trade, a day after the rival Milwaukee Brewers landed CC Sabathia. The Cubs will receive the right-handed Harden and righty Chad Gaudin for pitcher Sean Gallagher, outfielders Matt Murton and Eric Patterson, and minor leaguer John Donaldson.
  22. Petitte crosses that line often and gets called on it too rarely.
  23. I remember there used to be a glitch with MS Outlook 8 yrs or so ago where if you were bcc'd on an email and accidentally replied to all (instead of just replying), that it would reply to everyone and everyone would see everyone's email addresses (including the bcc'd folks). I assume that glitch was fixed, but be careful. I learned about that glitch the hard way.
