  1. Or maybe Dylan is just messing around and calling himself Jack Frost for fun? And giving b*llshit interviews to Rolling Stone because he has been doing it for 40 years? Trilogies? Do you guys really think he thinks like that? my top 5: 1. blood 2. blonde 3. highway 61 4. JWH 5. Oh mercy
  2. I still don't get why you give a damn that folks dont have L&T or MT in their top 5. What's your top 5?
  3. My buddy just jinxed Pelfrey's perfect game. What an *sshole. (I am posting this after he gave up the hit).
  4. Couldn't agree more. It's the Heavy Metal Drummer of Blood on the Tracks. Ok, well, maybe HMD is the Lilly of YHF. On a side note and maybe somewhat related (but maybe not), I read somewhere that the first verse in Idiot Wind ("shot a man named Grey, took his wife to Italy") was an intentional nonsensical curveball so that people didnt focus too intently on the rest of the lyrics which were a bit too autobiographical for even Dylan. So, a diversionary tactic, if you will. No idea if it's true.
  5. Come on Bjorn! I know you havent been the most vocal of Anti-Hillary folks around here, but she has been lambasted for doing everything she can to bring Obama down, and now she actually gives an interview to CNN where she says that it would be a "grave error" not to vote for Obama, and instead of being happy, folks don't believe her. It's crazy how much people really hate her!! I am glad I switched to the Obama team.
  6. No, I get it. I dont see how this helps Obama in any way, even with blue collars. Do they really care that Edwards endorsed him? Especially after Edwards hedged his bets for so long? No one actually thinks Edwards endorsed anything other than the guy who is now the presumptive nominee. The only benefit to the Obama campaign (imo) is that it puts him back on the front page and kicks HRC off.
  7. Haha, who else would he endorse at this point? And why did he wait this long? Obama could have used an Edwards endorsement when the nomination was still in doubt. Of course, there was some risk involved for Edwards to come out at that point, so he was quiet. Now Edwards is throwing his hat in the ring? Seems lame to me. EDIT: I am sure this was purposely timed to take the wind out of the HRC WV sail, but still. Edwards could have endorsed Obama back when it really mattered.
  8. Yep. That's me. Proud to be a Democrat. Changing the world in useless ways just a little bit every day.
  9. I never said the Dems don't play on people's fears. I said Republicans are better at it. For all your complaints about the unproven theory of global warming, what exactly have the Dems succeeded in achieving by their "scare tactics" about global warminig? Last I checked, we haven't ratified the Kyoto protocol/treaty...
  10. thanks for this -- I subscribe to the NYer but I somehow missed this. Too much stuff to read.
  11. Yeah, exactly. So frustrating and yet so predictable. Who cares that he has answers to all those questions, right? You sort of have to tip your cap to the GOP. Using "yes we can" against him? Ugh. Another brilliant GOP ad was the one a few weeks back in NC with Obama and Wright and exhortations that, like Wright, Obama was "too extreme" for NC. McCain comes out and criticizes the ad for playing up stereotypes and yet will benefit from the "message" it sends. McCain comes out clean for running a campagin on the high ground. They are just better than Dems at this stuff. Playing on peo
  12. ... and it begins. Damn, the GOP is good. http://net.gop.com/canweask/
  13. I don't change my strings nearly as often as I should. I should probably be changing them every two weeks or so, but I change them every two months or so. Its a combination of laziness and limited time. I'd rather spend the too few minutes I have at night before I pass out tuning to open D and playing a song from Blood on the Tracks. Then again, I find that there's nothing more zen than changing strings with a cup of coffee on a Saturday morning. There's something really cool about giving new life to your baby as the weekend begins. And then that first strum when they're all on there.
  14. Scratch that. This is my top 5. 1. Evanescent Psyhcic Pez Drop 2. The Story of Yo La Tango 3. Sugarcube 4. Paul is Dead 5. Our Way To Fall
  15. Amen Aman. I am not even a Dead fan (like I said, I'm a retired Phishhead), but I dig reading this thread because the passion you guys have for the Dead is cool. I used to be this way about Phish. Then I walked 15 miles into Coventry and I left my passion for Phish there. Had too much other stuff to carry with me on the 15 miles hike back to the car. Yep, no argument from me.
  16. I am not sure I agree with that. Plenty of folks i know dont like the music, too. The fans dont help, though. Ok, last non-dead question from me and then I am gone. I am guessing last night at the Jammys was a no-go? I can't bear to go to the PT board and wade through the inevitable 30 fake threads about how OMG PhISH Is Bakc togher!
  17. I have called a press conference for 1pm EST. I will be announcing that I have formally shifted my allegiance from HRC to BO. It is time for her to drop out. It's time. I disagreed with everyone calling for her to drop out over the last month or so. I don't disagree any more.
  18. No way the Twins should be on there. No way. Yes it has to be frustrating that their owner doesnt spend $$, but that has been a fun and exciting team to root for for many years. They are always competitive.
  19. Can you pass the guac? EDIT: damn top of page
  20. Hey, I know this is off topic, and as a former Phish phan, I used to hate it when people lumped the Dead and Phish together. But, I figured the people in this thread would be most interested in this rumor, and starting a whole new thread on phish was not necessary since most folks here hate them... Anyway, I am completely out of the loop on all things Phish related since they broke up but I heard a rumor that they might be getting back together tonight (or, actually playing together tonight), at the Jammys? Apparently, the band is being honored tonight? I don't see it happening, but it wi
