I think the Rose Bowl will be a much better game then people think. USC's offense is good (but not great) and have struggled in more than just the Oregon State game. In parts against Arizona, Stanford, and UCLA they looked very mediocre. The defense is clearly excellent. Penn State also has a very good offense, although nothing like the Big 12 teams this year. But their strength too is probably their defense. I think Penn State probably has a slightly better offense, and USC probably has a better defense. Florida vs. Oklahoma Texas vs. Ohio State USC vs Penn State Alabama vs. Utah Virginia Tech vs. Cincinnati there are some good match ups in there. If Texas beats up on Ohio State and Oklahoma barely wins, i could see the AP giving Texas their Number 1 spot, to be nice.

Oh I see. This does make sense. And gogo, I think I tried using a broom once for fun and it just dispersed the snow around the driveway, rather than really getting it off the driveway.

Dear VC - Whenever I shovel my driveway, I do it in straight lines, horizontally, so there are piles of snow on either side of the driveway. However, each time I shovel a line of snow, there is a small thin line of snow that is deposited on the side of the shovel across the whole driveway. This means, when I am finished shoveling the bulk of snow, there are thin lines of snow all over my driveway still, almost as if a family of giants who live in my house are about to do lines of snow-cocaine. While we haven't had a tough time with Big 10 opponents as of late.... (Ohio State this year, last few rose bowls, etc.) ...we also haven't played the number 1 big 10 school in any particular year in a while. Michigan in 2006 and Illinois in 2007 were the number 2 teams in the conference, much like Ohio State this year. So my feeling is that it'll be a much better game than we've seen, and we have no reason to be cocky.

Weis is staying on for another year. I think thats the right choice, although they really don't have a leg to stand on as to why they fired Ty Willingham now.

2 years ago, we had only lost to Oregon State, and going into the UCLA game, we were a lock for going to the National Championship. We looked past UCLA and ended up in the Rose Bowl. Very similar this year, and I don't want to end up in the Holiday Bowl or something like that. But UCLA is a lot worse this year.

Pete Carroll is not doing any favors to squelch the feeling that the Trojans are a little too cocky at times...USC is going to be forfeiting 2 timeouts (one per half) in the UCLA game this Saturday so the Trojans can wear their home jerseys at the Rose Bowl. First of all, Oklahoma is not going to get upset, and second of all, if it were to happen, USC has too much ground to make up with the computers for the voters to decide that texas shouldn't go to the national championship.
