  1. I particularly liked the part where Jeff tried to explain the difficulty in getting the warmth and depth in todays recordings that was the hallmark of a lot of 60's and 70's stuff. Also glad to hear that it sounds like the band is happy with the vinyl pressing. Great article!
  2. Thought of one more thing that would be helpful...we're staying at the Downtown Hilton on 5th and Neches. Looks like 4th street will be right out the back door and hopefully we're close to the 4th st/warehouse distric. It would be nice to know some cool bars and other attractions in the general vacinity. Thanks....
  3. Much obliged! Was planning on hitting South Congress and will check out 4th st area. can't wait! Will be gettinginto town tonight! Thanks again for all the info.....
  4. Crazy! Sounds like a great band! Congrats and best of luck!
  5. Saw that. Appreciate the advice. Will look into chili cold blood and possibly the rollergirls. FYI...don't forget the 2nd weekend of jazz fest will be going on Sat and Sun just two hours away. Line-up is a little lame this year which made it much easier to miss my first fest since 1993. Anyway, congratulations to you to and be sure to get you some good seafood....and some boudin and cracklin if your like me....
  6. Cool...my fiancee is from Sulphur. have fun in Lafayette...really like that town. Appreciate the recs. Will probably saty in Austin, and may just check out some local stuff. Really enjoy Son Volts new album, but the last two Farrar shows I saw were a little too low key (actually boring) for this weekend. I'm a bit of a Vinyl collector and was planning on a trip to Waterloo...now i got a plan...thanks! I'll check out the Chronicle as well. You have a good time yourself....
  7. Yeah, I think as long as the weather cooperates, Saturday will be a blast. Heard alot about the Barton Creek area, and specifically the courses, and Salt Lick is one of my favorite places in the nation to eat! Thanks for the mexican joint recs. When I was a little kid I satyed with my dad for a month during the summer while he was in Austin finishing his PhD. We would got to two places all the time...one was Jorges, which I really liked. it could be complete shite, but I remember us both really liking it. We also went to this joint that all the waiters were Comic Book Characters...thi
  8. Know there are a couple of Austinites on here, and after all the info I got from the wedding song post, figured I would give this a shot. I'm flying down to Austin Thurs night for a Bachelor party weekend. The only plans we have (that I know of!) are golf out at Barton Creek on Saturday, followed by a drive over to Salt Lick BBQ. Their any good local acts playing this weekend or must check out restaurants? There is a group that might catch Son Volt Fri night and just about the whole crew can't believe the luck of missing the DBT Dirt underneath tour rolling through there by a day or so.
  9. Wilceaux....what part of Cajun country are you from? I just moved out to Denver last month, but before that I was in Baton Rouge from 1993 on. Lost bayou Ramblers are fantastic, should be a great party. For a time we were going to have the wedding in NOLA but things got out of hand on the numbers. However, I had the Red Stick Ramblers tentatively booked for the reception! Best of luck! PS...incidentily....I will be flying down to Austin Thurs night for my bachelor party. May catch Son Volt Fri night, but if you are still in that area, I would appreciate any local knowledge on things to
  10. Not sure what kind of year Jamarcus will have with the Raiders, but I'd be willing to bet he will not be looked back on as a bust. Multiple five pick games....seriously doubt that If you think Notre Dame's secondary made this guy....your wrong.
  11. Agreed on the "Do not play" list. This is really been helpful...appreciate all the advice.
  12. Wow...looks like a great show. I just moved out to Denver from Baton Rouge and really look forward to catching some shows. There seems to be some great Venues and plenty of acts coming thorough. Never been to Red Rocks either! Getting married in a couple of weeks, so that, plus getting settled in my new place and and my new job has me pretty tied up. Any pointers on must see and do things would be greatly appreciated. I've already found Twist and Shout and the Tattered Cover books store. Twist and Shout is such a great record store...on par with Waterloo. Will probably keep it on the
  13. You said a couple of weeks and thats the same thing I say. May 19th here to. best of luck!
  14. Do not doubt that one bit. All the weddings i've been to in New orleans the receptions were unbelieveable. Took me a while to warm to it, but I'm liking the idea now. The photographer we got is really cool and just got married. Said he picked this DJ after seeing him at a couple of weddings and he thought their reception was a blast! pretty good recs. Appreciate the kind words....
  15. Thanks everyone..... Peel and 1/4 23cd....really appreciate the insight. I was going nuts over this and I agree...I think I may have been the only one out there for half the night. Really like the idea of must plays and must not plays....as well as the obvious first dance etc. Peel cograts on the upcoming big day....don't suppose its may 19th is it? Louie and 23....you wouldn't believe some of the wedding bands down south. The last wedding I went to, the drummer and bassist were 20 year muscle Shoals Sessions vets....amazing. Louie...hear you on the live band more fun...and believe I
  16. Back when people around here were getting hitched left and right, there were quite a few people asking opinions for good songs to play at weddings. I have recently moved to Denver and will be getting married before I know it. We will have a DJ at our wedding, which is something new to me, as I am from MS and most wedding receptions have really swinging R&B bands. I had zero luck finding a band for the reception. I am meeting with our DJ next week and am working on a list to show him. Any of you who might still have their list handy, or have an opinion on a favorite song (or 10) to he
  17. Thanks guys...really appreciate it!
  18. Could some one please point me in the right direction for a MP4 plug in or downloadable player so that I can check out the Sky Blue Sky free download. Thanks...
  19. Fantastic...I'd make that Proud larrys show if I hadn't just moved to Denver!
  20. Apologize if this has been discussed, but is the download available yet? Still getting the download not availablle status?
  21. hardwire healing is a very solid album!
  22. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could PM or you send it a copy of this song. Putting together a mix for a friend and i can't seem to find it. Thanks. for your troublesss DBT - THE DIRT UNDERNEATH (stories and songs sitting down / tales facing up) Y'ALL: Nearly six years ago, DBT played a show at Pine Hill Farms up in North Carolina. The monthly event (now, long defunct) was held at a farmhouse on a beautiful piece of land outside of Chapel Hill NC. It was written up in No Depression and had a built in following. We were invited to play there shortly after the release (1st
  23. Does Fox replay these at any time...forgot watch/record last night
  24. Planning a honeymoon and sure would appreciate any advice on travel guide resources etc... We're staying at a resort in Los Cabos and I have most of those details ironed out. Looking for a guide or opinions on how to find the out of the way places, eco tours, places to eat, etc. Thanks in advance!
