  1. During the worst stages of my first marriage, not even strong sleeping pills could make me calm down enough to be able to sleep. So I listened to Summerteeth in it's full length every night, and by "In A Future Age" I was calm enough to sleep. It probably still works for me if it has to.

2004 it was Jay Bennett's "Curiosity" that put me through the separation, starting a completely new life in a different town, new job et all.

2005, when I had first met Robert and was totally unsure about how I should respond to his feeling that we were meant to be, Bright Eyes' "First Day Of My Life" came out, and it hit me like a bargepole - this was exactly what I was feeling, and I'm still on the verge of tears when I listen to it, because it made a very tough decision (getting involved with someone so much younger after a really nasty breakup) all easy.

2007, when I finally got rid of one of the already mentioned toxic vampires, and needed to face the fact that they had been lying to me during several years about absolutely everything, it was ELO's "Endless Lies" that made me strong enough to finally see the light.

Yes, it is amazing how much we rely on music when there seems nothing else to hold on anymore :wub

  2. When someone in my family loads the dishwasher with a bowl or a glass or something upside down on the top rack and it collects all the dirty water and then spills out all over the other clean dishes on the bottom rack when you pull out the top rack.

This is why I always. ALWAYS. Pull out the bottom rack first when unloading the dishwasher. If only to prevent all the remaining water that is lingering on the upside down bottom dents of the top rack glasses from pouring down on the bottom rack stuff :yes

  3. HYGIENE WISE: and Europeans.

    Care to elaborate? :)

It makes me lethal when my boss criticizes something I have done, I then explain her why I've done it the way I did (not in all, but in most cases quite sensible reasons) and think it is okay that way, and when she realizes she's got no more sensible argument to prove me wrong, she just says "well we don't need to discuss that now, do we?" with a false toothy smile just for the one reason to shut me up, no matter if I am right or not.

  4. Getting up on Wednesday mornings, first with the same "oh NO! it's time to get out of bed :(" - feeling like every other day, and suddenly getting this adrenaline kick "woohoo!! it's wednesday! the box from the organic farm delivery will be here!!", and then rush downstairs and unpack all the wonderful looking veggies & fruits :w00t

  5. Oh yes we have, and we've been affected by it deeply last month with this f*cking game console company not paying a bonus like they did for the previous 5 years or so :cryin, but hey, you're in the health business, and the more time people have (aka are unemployed), the more often they are sick and run to the doctors/pharmacies to get rid of their boredom and feel noticed :dancing

Coming to think of it, that is probably also true for playing games, but then we know this industry hasn't suffered enough to even mention, it's just this company that treats their employees like sh*t. Oh well, at least their name is gonna sell well on a possible application cv ;)

  6. Perhaps something has come to pass since 2 years ago when Jeff told The Australian newspaper in an interview that Billy Bragg was "full of shit." ???

This is just a snippet of the whole interview, read the whole thing if you want the full perspective.

Wow. That must have completely slipped my mind. Not very nice things to say. Not at all. :no

  7. Well, as some of you know, I am managing the local branch of a private learning school (was a cooperation with Sylvan Learning until last year) who is the biggest corporation like that in Germany with 1100 branches.

We have 80 kids at the moment who are being taught by 13 teachers in all imaginable subjects, mostly Maths, English, German, Latin, where they have problems with at school.

Right as we speak, one of them (19 y in May) who happens to be the daughter of a good friend, is writing her Abitur exam in Maths after being in our school for a year, and Abitur being the highest possible thing you can achieve in German schools. So far so good.

On Tuesday, when she was having a single lesson with my best teacher to prepare for today's final exam, the following incident was being witnessed:

They were sweating over "x - 1" is the same as "1 - x", because she insisted that was true. No matter how long the teacher tried to make her understand that it is ONLY the same when "x" is actually "1", she insisted that her result was correct (which it was, because in this only case "x" was "1"!!), and that he was being wrong. :-O

    So to answer the question:

Yes. Things are that bad. :frusty

  8. What's Haribo Colorado, precious?

    Haribo Gold Bears are manna.

This is Haribo colorado. It features the gummi bears as well, but as you can see, some other delicious stuff too. The brown/black squares are the reason I buy this. Unfortunately, there are only a few in each package, and the quantities differ. So I have to grab like 20 bags and check them all through to maybe decide which one might contain the most brown squares. Oh I could write a novel about this. Colorado is a science on its own, trust me ;)

Be strong, Dunja! And have fun emptying the ice cream tubs. :eat

    Oh I will :D

  9. I've just been grocery shopping and bought my last bag of Haribo Colorado, and the last sixpack of lime beer :beer. Oh well. I will have to empty all the ice cream tubs on my own tomorrow night, as Rob will be on business trip :w00t

  10. We're giving up alcohol, sweets and crisps for as long as we can reasonably do it without assassination attempts at each other, the neighbours or the co-workers.

Ice cream is gonna be the toughest for me.

  11. Are there kids involved? If so, brace yourself for being blamed as a bad parent for destroying their childhood for the rest of your life. No matter what they do wrong in their life without you having any influence on it, it will always be your fault because you choose to destroy the family. Oh yeah, and it doesn't matter at all if you might have had your good reasons like e.g. survival. That doesn't count.

Major vibes are on their way to you.
