  1. Favorite shows 2009:

    Travis in Frankfurt, Feb 9th

Morrissey in Offenbach, May 10th or so

    Razorlight in Offenbach, Sept 13th

Wilco in London was ok too, they played loads of Summerteeth that night

Biggest disappointment: As usually Bruce Springsteen, July 3rd or so, Frankfurt. One of the truly worst nights of my entire life, I spent about 2 hours of it sobbing uncontrollably because everything and mostly Mr. Superstar sucked so badly.

Biggest show to come: Kevin Costner & Modern West, March 15th, Offenbach. Can't friggin' wait :dancing

  2. I hate to always jump to the drugs thing.

But in the end it almost always is, so it's only healthy to jump to that conclusion. And at least over here in Germany the reports are clear that they found prescription drugs, and that her husband had a cardiac arrest only in October due to weird, never fully resolved circumstances.

Not that I knew her or anything, I had to google the name and still can't think of ever having heard of her before today. :ninja

Very sad, though, someone so young.

Yes indeed, my condolences to her parents.

  3. LOL! Well, we've already laid out our rough holiday schedule for 2010, and will probably be off work until May 24th for about 10-14 days, so maybe they will do some shows during that time. If not, well tough. The times where we changed our real life plans for concerts are over.

(I hate planes too, but it would exceed our holiday allowance if we swam to NZ :monkey)

  4. I am thankful for

    - every single second with my husband who after almost 5 years still puts me in a state of speechlessness when I just look at him in awe

    - my daughter being on a good way in her life, successful at school and trying to find her place in life (not easy these days I suppose)

    - my parents still being relatively healthy even after the shock of my brother's death last year

    - for us both having jobs that either pay quite well (Rob) and/or are fun most of the time (mine and despite all the moaning, Rob's too :P)

    - for having found this amazing flat whose view astonishes me every morning when I get out of the bedroom door just to see the river as first thing

    - for my friends from near and far, longtime as well as the new ones I found this year through my job

    - for getting a bit tired of my favorite bands so I got the chance to check out other stuff and go to different shows than just always Wilco and REM

    - for all the lovely food that we can afford and have fun cooking and eating

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you :love

  5. :D

I don't really care either. It always comes with mixed feelings when a band you like gets very popular. It's disappointing that it gets harder to get tickets, and the venues (usually) get bigger and less friendly, but I do like to see people who I think deserve it, get the recognition.

I think where Wilco is at the moment, in many ways, is pretty good. I'm sure they're making enough money to gey by ( ;) ), yet they still have the freedom (artistically and personally) that acts like U2 probably can't enjoy as much.

I imagine a day when people ask me who I really like, and I answer "Wilco", that they won't say "who?" :D

Yeah but then I anticipate that day with mixed feelings too, as that will mean the end to all those nice cosy small venues.

Why does everything in life have to have two sides to it :argue?!

  6. I wonder what the reviewer would consider a 5 star show?

The Spice Girls dancing naked/Oasis not turning up?

I don't know and I don't care. This was one of the absolutely best Wilco shows I've seen, the guys seemed to burst with joy playing their surprise-packed set, the sound was good even in the front row, everything else was perfect too, so just ignore complete music illiterates like this guy.

  7. Well, having been a massive REM fan until discovering Wilco (through REM I might add), this is a thread just after my gusto. :P

Summerteeth to me is the best album that has ever been released, UP is close second.

    So far so good.

Everything REM has released since UP was close to or beyond a huge disappointment (but who'd blame them, no matter what they might still release, nothing will be able to top the tightness, the atmosphere and the lyrics of UP anyway); who would have thought that after listening to ATS and especially Accelerate :barf , I would rate REVEAL as brilliant :stunned (I now indeed do).

Anything Wilco has released since REM released UP was a gazillion miles better than everything post-UP released by REM. Most especially ST, YHF, AGIB and SBS (still not sure about WTA but we're getting there).
