  2. does anyone know the date/venue for the live appearance of "Art of Almost" on this? http://www.wearecollegeradio.com/ wouldn't want to buy it for one track and have it already be part of the Roadcase downloads... -justin
  3. while the King Sunny Ade, Olatunji, Fela Kuti and Éthiopiques recommendations are all great, i am surprised to get this far and not see anything put out by Analog Africa mentioned. specifically: the first two volumes of their series documenting what many Afropop afficianodoes consider to be the best African band, Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou. i am by no means an exeprt on African music, but the first volume is the compilation that got me onto this music. there is literally nothing funkier than what was coming out of West Africa in the 1970s. Analog Africa CDs aren't cheap, but they a

  8. a copy went for like $1,200 on ebay. mp3s were being sold through the official site in some European countries, but that only last for a couple of days. -justin
  9. it was originally titled &TYSYC. i think it might be another narrative-type deal like Undun. edit: howdjadoo, what's surprising about my post? tell me one you think is doubtful and i'll tell you why it might happen (save Wilco, that is). -justin

  11. well, the 2002 ABCKO U.S. and U.K. editions probably have the best sound of any CD release. i think i heard that the Grrr! set uses those masterings, so you won't get the loudness. however, everything in their catalogue, post-Sticky Fingers is Universal and the 2009 remasters are terrible. i believe that is what is used on Grrr. what i did was buy CD versions of Between The Buttons (U.K.), Aftermath (U.K.), Sticky Fingers (2009, unfortunately), Exile On Main Street (2-disc Deluxe), Some Girls (2-disc deluxe), Beggars Banquet (2002 remaster) and Let It Bleed (2002 remaster). all i need to
  12. yeah, Basement Tapes are a must. i think there might even be more that didn't make it on the complete bootleg sets. maybe they would have trouble clearing all of those covers? i get what you are saying about that 1969-1970 period, but i think the entire 70s could use a lot of representation (New Morning outtakes, Planet Wave outtakes, Street Legal piano demos and/or Rundown rehearsals, the live songs from 78 that are not officially released, alternate Blood On The Tracks stuff, the "I'm Cold" tapes if they exist, etcs. -justin
  13. as they are saying over on ER, Columbia could be trying to assemble future Bootleg series in the format of Tell Tale Signs, where they'll cover a span of years with outtakes, previously released rarities and live tracks and be hugely successful: 1. the Self-Portrait outtakes that don't circulate (only among the super-insiders) are supposed to be really great. 2. we could also get New Morning and Nashville Skyline outtakes (we've seen a few as iTunes bonus tracks recently: "Lay, Lady, Lay" [rehearsal], alternate "Went To See The Gypsy," etc. 3. plus some stuff from the Dylan/Cash and Dylan
  14. well, some of those acts have had a bit of successful longevity (Calexico, for example). the bands you should have been talking about in 2006, that are still on top of their game and some of them making classics: The Tallest Man On Earth , Band of Horses, The Decemberists (i know they were mentioned earlier), TV On The Radio and (especially the last two), The National and Grizzly Bear. -justin
  15. i dunno. first half is pretty good, but the last half not so much. -justin
  16. are all of the 5 live tracks from that collected on the reissues? -justin
  17. • Uncle Tupelo The Seven Inch Singles (4x7" black vinyl numbered box set with new, unreleased 4th single and 14x7" poster) * I Got Drunk b/w Sin City * Gun b/w I Wanna Destroy You * Uncle Tupelo Sauget Wind b/w Looking For A Way Out (Acoustic), Take My Word * That Year b/w Pickle River which one is the fourth unreleased single? the only track i've never heard of is "Pickle River" -justin
  18. i'm just going to assume the person that said "At Least That's What You Said" was joking. lol. lol. -justin
  19. why is only the second album remastered? that's so strange. -justin
  20. just pre-ordered this on blowitouttahere for $26 plus 1.99 shipping. i order CDs from there sometimes. even cheaper than amazon sometimes. -justin
  21. those prices will go down at least a couple of bucks i bet. i'm just fucking frustrated that this thing keeps getting pushed back. -justin
  22. that's really not a bad price for 3 CDs and 1 DVD, plus i'm assuming some sort of booklet. at any rate, once things are finalized, i'm sure it will drop a few bucks. plus, if you get it from amazon, you won't have to pay for shipping. -justin
