  1. are you saying they did but the vinyl as a bonus on the CD? you mean hypothetically, correct? -justin
  2. deluxe is 13.49 on amazon pre-order. wouldn't be surprised if it even dropped another buck or so. plus, you get the free shipping if you order enough to make a total of $25, which i will have no problem doing. why the hell would i order from the official store and pay almost $25 just for the deluxe and shipping? -justin
  3. you are aware that there are literally hundreds of "clues" and already a website dedicated to the theory that there is more music forthcoming, right? -justin
  4. it seems like, for the people that don't like this album (or Radiohead), that it's a problem with the person themselves, rather than the band or the music. i refuse to see it any other way. -justin
  5. what's number one Shakes? is it The King of Limbs or is it the SFA solo dude's record? -justin
  6. honestly, i think that's a great description, but the thing is, that is exactly why i adore Radiohead and always have. -justin
  7. you really think so? i think it sounds like a mix of The Eraser and the Amnesiac-era b-sides ("Cuttooth," etc.) i also think it is sort of revolutionary and will take time to sink in. i sort of disliked it on first listen, but the second listen really opened up for me. it's an about-face. it doesn't have any traditional chord changes, few catchy melodies and little guitar. kinda like Kid A when everyone said that one was bad. -justin
  8. i'm assuming there hasn't been any news of a new Wilco single available for sale at the festival? i think there had been talk of that with all of the news stories surrounding Wilco and their own label... -justin
  9. i'm a huge fan myself. anyway, to answer your question: i mean, the self-titled EP is easily as good as the debut album, just shorter. one song ("Into The Stream") is actually a repeat. if you are trying to complete your discography, there is a free track he donated to the Yellow Bird Project online (called "A Field Of Birds") and the "King of Spain" single from the new album has 2 b-sides. one is a cover of "Graceland" and another is a gorgeous, gorgeous balled called "Where I Thought I Met The Angels." -justin
  10. face value (including charges), so $45 i guess? first person to e-mail me at justinpbrooks@gmail.com gets it. i will check my e-mail tomorrow morning. Thanks. -justin
  11. don't know if my JavaScript is not up to date or what, but i can't seem to get any information about when the Richmond tickets go on sale. can anyone tell me? thanks! -justin
  12. good news. a couple days before my 28th b-day, but i should be there. since they are recording now, i wonder if we'll hear new songs on this tour? seems very possible... -justin
  13. i think the Landmark would be better for a solo show, like the one Tweedy did at the Paramount in C-ville. i do walk to work and i walk a lot of places in the slip and the Bottom, but if i go to the fan, i take my car. i really wish they had a light rail to the fan or west end or a trolly like they used to on Broad. -justin
  14. additionally, can you please tell your fellow students to stop darting out in front of my moving vehicle/jaywalking when school is in session. i'd like to be able to drive through those two blocks in less than 10 minutes... -justin
  15. nice pics DBoon! i've been thinking about taking a skyline shot since Grand Illumination. do you have a bigger one you can send me? say what you will about the murders and all that, but i love me some Richmond. i'm not even sure New York can lay claim to an Italian place as good as Mama 'Zu... -justin
  16. stuff released this year: Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion The Decemberists - The Hazards Of Love Bon Iver - Blood Bank [EP] Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest My Morning Jacket - Celebración de la Ciudad Natal [EP] [Record Store Day] Iron & Wine - Norfolk 6/20/05 [Record Store Day] Iron & Wine - Around The Well Wilco - Wilco (The Album) Yim Yames - Tribute To [EP] Bob Dylan - Together Through Life [Deluxe Edition] Bob Dylan - Christmas In The Heart The Flaming Lips - Embryonic Neil Young - Harvest [Remastered] Neil Young - After The Gold Rush [Remastered] The Beatles - Stereo
  17. i usually like NPR, but to fail to mention "Love & Theft" or any Dylan at all is a travesty. -justin
  18. i agree with most of the posters in this thread: i download a good deal of music (full albums) in .mp3 (stealing) and then listen to them until i decide if i want to buy it or not. i have hundreds and hundreds of physical CDs and continue to buy them almost weekly. i want the full quality. i want the artwork. i want a back-up. when digital finally wins out, we'll have lossless downloads. the only reason we don't have them now is that the vast majority of people don't care/realize about sound quality. we have the bandwidth and storage space...we have the technology. that being said, an
  19. earlier this year, i was able to get the $105 Goodbye, Babylon box set from a third-party amazon.com seller that mistakenly had it listed at 7.99. my thinking is that it should have been 97.99 and it was sealed and brand new. either way, they honored it... deal of the century if you ask me. http://www.amazon.com/Goodbye-Babylon-Various-Artists/dp/B0000DBOCB/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1254922569&sr=8-1 -justin
  20. i think this is Wilco's In Rainbows. they've taken everything they've learned over the past few albums and made an album that is unquestionably Wilco-esque and at the same time, fantastic. yeah, it's not revolutionary like Kid A or Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, but it isn't trying to be. they're on the other side of that, making consistently great albums. -justin
