  1. here's the thing though. i know he deals with abstract wordplay and all, but in talking about the feathers and all that, i believe the word he should be using is "plume." i feel like he didn't have a dictionary or internet connection in the cabin, made the mistake and then couldn't re-record it. i'm not even kidding. it really bothers me. lovely song though. lovely album as well. -justin
  2. TV On The Radio - "Stork & Owk" Blitzen Trapper - "Furr" Bob Dylan - "Angelina" -justin
  3. >But based on the questions and answers at the Thrasherswheat.org forum, it appears that Archives will be an odd compromise of some unreleased material
  4. unfortunately, i've tried and tried...and tried again last week, but i still don't care for Evil Urges. i have found myself liking The Tennessee Fire more and more though...even more than At Dawn, i think. -justin
  5. there was one from like Being There era where he chose Buck Owens - I've Got A Tiger By The Tail and one of the live albums and then some Replacements and i forget what else...maybe that live Townes Van Zandt - Live At The Old Quarter? -justin
  6. without hearing any of the six records, i'd go with R.E.M., because they used to be really good. -justin
  7. i prefer Mama 'Zu personally, but they are owned by the same people and have pretty much the same menu, except you have to wait 2 hours at Mama's...and they only take cash...and it's in Oregon Hill... -justin
  8. The National is owned by the NorVa and it looks like band are switching off ever tour, like Iron & Wine played The National this spring and then playde the NorVa just recently. anyway, Wilco has been playing C-ville and they need to come to Richmond the next time around for sure. i'm sick of driving to shows. i'd rather walk. :-) -justin
  9. or perhaps a PM? i've got the second DeYarmond Edison if you are interested. -justin
  10. >definitely seek out the 2 solo releases floating around (the Hazeltons EP and Self Record) i've been looking around. any change of a u/l? -justin
  11. how is Journey Through The Past? i know Time Fadea Away is excellent. a few years ago, someone sent me the HDCD mastered copy that the record company had done that was never released... -justin
  12. just download it and listen to it before you buy. the production is still intact and it sounds A LOT better. -justin
  13. it doesn't impress me much either, but i think it is because it is so early. the other two Archives live shows are amazing. Massey Hall is stunning and the Fillmore show is great too, but they could have included more of the concert on there... -justin
  14. i just don't think "Working On A Dream" is that good... -justin
  15. on casual day at the company i used to work for, i saw a guy wearing a Wilco t-shirt, at a Tweedy solo show, i found my distant cousin sitting directly behind me (hadn't talked to him in years)...and there is at least one other Richmonder on the board here... was in Baltimore earlier this year and someone commented on my Wilco shirt. that's about it.
  16. TV On The Radio - Dear Science, Willie Nelson - Stardust [Deluxe Edition] Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak -justin
  17. the first couple times spinning it, i liked a track or two, but thought the whole was kinda boring and "same-y." then, one day it took hold completely and has quickly become a personal favorite which is very close to my heart. it's simply gorgeous. -justin
  18. >"White Winter Hymnal" gets my vote, too. "Blue Ridge Mountains" is better. -justin
  19. >although should caveat, I think I run a little more Americana-y than the rest of this board these days. get with the times old man. i'm 26 and i love the old stuff (even older than Folkways): Skip James, Dock Boggs, Blind Willie McTell, Charley Patton, Robert Johnson, American Anthology of Folk, Goodbye Babylon, etc., but the simple fact is that there is a LOT of envelope, pushing forward-looking music coming out these days and it simply isn't getting radio play outside of XM and college radio. re: Arcade Fire, i love a good deal of indie music and i've listened to all of their stuff,
  20. Nick Drake. i had the song "Pink Moon" on my computer in college and earlier this year downloaded and subsequently bought the three proper albums one by one. had i known, i would have just bought that damn box set...it's gorgeous! -justin
  21. and not even really worthwhile b/c the song is already on their last album, so it isn't even a rarity. -justin
  22. just listened again for the first time in a couple of months. such a beautiful record. i'd kinda worn it out earlier in the year. -justin
  23. so excited! i've heard two of the tracks as live versions. love "Blood Bank," but not too find of "Babys." -justin
