  1. i think both of these songs sound like SBS material actually. -justin
  2. thanks! these are great! anybody try to transcribe the lyrics yet? -justin
  3. i saw them back in 2006. honestly, Wayne's voice sounds terrible untreated and the mix was bad. judging from another bootleg i heard, i realize that this is always the case. at any rate, it was an incredibly fun show regardless of them sounding like shit. still, i like their albums (except the last one, which only had a few salvageable tracks). -justin
  4. MattZ, i would say yes, because, aside from the other songs, you get a third alternate "Mississippi" and an additional "Red River Shore," which is, supposedly the new "Blind Willie McTell" or what have you...an unreleased masterpiece by all accounts. -justin
  5. i had to order the deluxe edition. sure, i could download the third disc in lossless or something, but being as how i'm a huge Dylan fan (have seen live 10 times, have CD-Rs of 600 bootlegs), i just had to spring for it. that having been said, i love later period Dylan and this looks like a treasure trove. everyone from the Time Out Of Mind sessions says "Red River Shore" was the best song of all of them and is absolutely stunning. -justin

  7. we really should have heard it like...that night...or at the very least by the next day. were there no tapers? -justin
  8. Bruce Springsteen should show up to say "hey John...umm, i think you owe me some royalties, since you've been robbing me blind for years." -justin
  9. i keep wishing these interviewers would say: "tell us more about these Wilco songs. as much as you can please - this is important." -justin
  10. Radiohead - "Treefingers" Radiohead - "Hunting Bears" Wilco - "Pure Bug Beauty" -justin
  11. it's really growing on me. the first three songs are fucking killer for one and the rest are good to very good. -justin
  12. has it leaked yet? if not, let's start an LP7 speculation/hype/news thread. -justin
  13. i can't wait any fucking longer. my boxers have been up the crack of my ass ever since last year, when a couple of the band members hinted that another album was coming really soon. -justin
  14. honestly, i stopped playing Evil Urges after a very short while, b/c i only loved a few of tracks and the rest ranged from so-so to terrible. over the holiday weekend, i took a road-trip to Indiana with my fiance and stopped off in Louisville (MMJ's hometown) on the way there and on the way back. listened to At Dawn while going around doing the Louisville thing, even passed by Shelbyville where they recorded all the grain-silo stuff. sadly, they've lost that sound forever and what they replaced it with just isn't up to par. you see, some of EU sounds in the same vein as Z, just not as good
  15. i'd say the truth lies somewhere in between the last two posts. -justin
  16. funny, when The Shepherd's Dog was released, i found myself wishing for a return of the old band-less I&W of the first two albums, but eventually i came round and realized that Shepherd's Dog is probably his most mature and certainly his best album to date. -justin
  17. yeah, i'm in the "'Joey' sucks" camp as well. there's an interesting essay by Greil Marcus (?) about how historically, it's all wrong. that Joey Gallo was a true sociopath. -justin
  18. honestly, i think Wayne's voice is shot (studio cover-up), the mix is terrible and they sound quite shit live. that having been said, i'd heard a bootleg right before i saw them in September of 2006 and knew what to expect. the show was all kinds of fun b/c of the craziness and all, but wouldn't go to another one... -justin
  19. of course it is supposed to be a 3-volume set, but comments recently have indicated that he is working on the second volume. -justin
