really looking forward to the new album!

i'm actually fond of the Evil Urges album cover. it's the music inside that i don't much care for.
-justin
-
this is not the album's title. wait for it...

ad hominum attacks are always a good way to endear yourself to people.
so, it's broken then? the part of your brain that allows you to detect sarcasm, i mean.

Just because he stated an opinion doesn't make him a right wing nut job. He just doesn't want this band to become overtly political.
thank you Mr. Hannity. he states that the last 8 years were not a hellish nightmare in which Bush screwed everything up entirely. everyone knows that that is in fact exactly what happened.

I saw the new Rolling Stone article. I wish I could remember the exact quotes, but there were some interesting things said by Tweedy.
The GOOD: His explanation of "Wilco, the Song", which I LOVED on the Colbert show, makes me like it even more. He explains how music is something that is always there....music will always be there to love you. Sounds kinda corny, but it's true. There's always a song or record to help me deal with a problem or get out of a funk.
The SLIGHTLY NAUSEATING: Talking about "My Country Has Disappeared", he explains how he wrote the song pre-election and he wants it to be a hopeful song after 8 crappy years. I know George Bush won't go down as a one of the greatest Presidents, but this sweeping thought that Bush's 8 years has sucked and was miserable to live through just gets so tired. Wilco have exploded in those 8 years. Was life really that sucky for Mr. Tweedy? When he vacations to his Michigan home, is he THAT tortured that we've been in a controversial war? Fault Bush for the war. Fine. But is all this economic mess to be layed at Bush's feet? Is it Bush's fault that the stock market is in the tank? C'mon Jeff. Yeah, things kinda suck right NOW. But stop with this "8 years of living in Hell" crap.
is your bowtie a little too tight today Mr. Carlson?

unfortunately not. the fabled Southeast tour did not include anywhere in VA. Asheville, NC is like 6 hours away, so i'll just wait until they swing around in the fall (which i'm sure they will).

i've actually met him twice. this time though (after a solo show) we talked all about the SBS songs he'd played...this was about 6 months before the record came out.

i had no idea you were on this board. apparently, we have more in common than i thought. i'm just a massive Wilco fan. as you can see from my signature pic, i am more than a little happy to be hanging with Jeff.
-justin

wait a second, what board am i on?
a couple of weeks ago, somewhere, i heard something about a weblink where a "deluxe" was listed. i hadn't been following the news and wanted to see if anyone else knew anything.
-
so is there a deluxe edition after all?

sources such as that oftentimes prove incorrect. especially since official press releases are saying Summer and Jeff told them at the living room show that it was 67% done. i'm skeptical, but would welcome a May release day obviously...

It's funny. That recording seems to split people. I love it. That and High Heat (which is in a similar vein) are probably my favorite B-Sides. Its got such a cool tension and atmosphere. Oh well, one man's trash....
this.

i remember my first exposure being the video for "Paranoid Android" on MTV when was about 14 or 15. i liked it, but i didn't know why! i ended up buying OK Computer about 3 years later...
-justin
-
dammit!
i finally got around to buying The Bends just last year!
the OK Computer would be an option too, but i also just picked up that Airbag/How Am I Driving? EP last Spring!!
i'll probably end up getting the 3-disc editions of both just because at some point anyway just because i'm a massive Radiohead fan.
oh yeah...and fuck Pablo Honey...i'll never own that in any incarnation!

they are apparently studio re-recordings. why do they do this? i'm buy this in the store! i hate iTunes!
-justin

The Rising was always a favorite of mine too. the only criticism i've heard was overproduction, but i think the production suits the bombastic material!
-justin

i wish it had been on the SBS bonus disc (either the two-song one or the tour edition one), because i have both of those and really like the song!

i have no idea what you are talking about re: Brian Wilson.
i will say this though: i went to see them with expectations for them to only be passable, but i was blown away. go see them live.
