ooh, now there's an idea - I could easily design that, with the skull hat as a starting point.

okay some of those patterns are weirding me out. Luckily, I don't have a yarn acquisition sickness....though I do end up always buying more than I need. My obsessive purchasing habit is books...... I am studying all day today, and then tonight I plan on working on the pattern for a scarf I am designing. Nothing too fancy. I would rather be working on it now. Also, I may have to re-do Emily's hat - it is pretty small.......I haven't done the lining yet, so we'll see. I told her I would re-do it, if she'd actually wear it.

oh, I know.....just looking at the picture makes me all warm inside.

I got this book for Christmas - I know what I will be doing in 2008!!

I was at one of my best friends' house yesterday and her husband came in and said, "Oscar Peterson passed away, isn't your Nanny (grandma) out of the country? She will be so upset." And my friend was really sad to hear the news, as well. Apparently, her grandmother and Oscar Peterson were very good friends. Very sad news, indeed.

yes, those are fabulous!! Man, I need to move back home so Robin and I can knit together more often.....

I don't think I ever said I hated Lion's Choice - though I don't eat there very often. I'd rather gorge on Imo's and Ted Drewes

it's my all time favorite film.....and has been since I first saw it when I was 15 years old. I think I have all of the soundtrack songs on various discs - but it will be cool to have the record. I was always frustrated that a soundtrack had never been released for that movie.
-
I am going to have to get that record....even though I don't have a record player right now.

ok, I jumped on the bandwagon. After seeing No Country For Old Men I wanted to read some of his stuff. I also picked up No Country..., but am starting with this. I don't read much fiction, but this is a treat.....though the style of the prose takes some getting used to. It's kind of like reading Shakespeare, in that when you start reading it, it is feels disjointed and awkward. But, once you get into the flow, it feels organic.

I just did a regular cast on - I am going to just pick up the stitches for the liner on the inside of the hem.......who knows if it will work. I looked up provisional cast on - it doesn't look too difficult, but I didn't wanna deal with it this time around.

true to the book - excellent film.

love and prayers to you and yours Edie. I hope that you all have some meaningful and blessed moments with Pappa in these final days. Please let us know if we can do anything for you. xo

yeah, it's hardly 27 miles (that seems really wrong - though hey Robin, when I come over this weekend, we can measure! haha).....and it is part of the St Louis Metro area - hell, it's even on the MetroLink train line. I am just arguing geography - I could care less about the whole "home town" discussion. Us St. Louisans can be very defensive of our beloved city. Hell, didn't you see how personally I took it when someone ragged on Imo's Pizza?

I hope you have a wonderful birthday and I hope we'll see you round these parts sometime soon! xoxo

(there should be a knitting smiley here as well)

just a quick trip in and out of town for the holiday - though I will be back in a few weeks - maybe you, me and Robin could hang out!!
-
I am making an appearance in St Louis this weekend - maybe that will appease some of my hungry fans.

sorry - I missed this.....I am just blind today skull hat

oooh dig the socks!! Evonne - I swear I saw you knitting a fair isle baby sweater once? It's funny how people have their preferences - fair isle vs. intarsia very cool bots! I may have to make some for my friend's kiddos. FYI - this is my favorite VC thread!! Robin - oooh alpaca?? I wish I knew how to dye and spin - there is a small organic farm out here that does workshops on spinning. One of these days...... www.esthersplacefibers.com

wow, some of those comments on the cnn website are ridiculous.

oh man, intarsia....my first go with that mst3k scarf was in intarsia, and it looked awful. So, I ripped it, redesigned it, and am doing it in the round. I prefer to carry colors instead of doing intarsia. However, when you have to carry behind large areas of solid color it doesn't look good either. bah. Are you getting holes and puckering where you change colors? Do you get some bubbling on your purl lines? A woman suggested to me that since most people purl looser than knit that you use a needle one gauge smaller on the purl side. Though I bet when you felt it, all the places you have pro

Robin - you should try this skull pattern - it is nice because as far as I can tell you don't have to carry the yarn at any point - therefore, you don't have to do a lot of twisting and untwisting. The only thing I am unsure of is when I get to knitting the inner liner. I have never done anything like that. So, we'll see! I'd like to get my hands on the colorwork purse you are doing and see how you are doing it. When I see you you can show me some sock tricks and I can show you some colorwork tricks. Ooooooh, I am going to do that Calorimetry pattern......I could use one of those!! I f

I got something really cool for Graham - but I can't say here since he will see!
