  1. Recently, we had a bunch of people over for dinner. When the conversation turned to books, a male friend started asking who had read The Secret Life of Bees. Quite a few men in our little group had read it, and they all thought it was great. The guy who started the conversation said it was one of his favorite books of all time. Just some opinions from guys I know.
  2. Thanks for the well wishes everyone. We're still getting use to the idea that Trixie isn't here. Again today, my daughter got out of the car and called, "Karma...Daisy Mae...Trix - oh yeah." No tears, just very sad. Losing a member of the family is never easy, but we'll be alright. Like I said earlier, I don't post often during the school year, but when I do, I'm reminded why I keep checking in and coming back. The people on VC are some of the sweetest, kindest, most compassionate people that I've "met". You guys rock.
  3. Hi everyone. I know I don't post often. Usually, I post more in the summer when I'm on break, but I try to read the boards when I can. This morning ended a very happy week on an extrememly sad note. We woke up this morning to find that one of our dogs, Trixie, had passed away last night. Trixie didn't start out as our dog. She came with the house...literally. When we signed the papers buying the house, the woman said, "Do you like dogs?" I said, "Yes, we have one." She said, "Weeelllll, now you have two." The people who owned the house took Trixie in as a favor to a friend who wo
  4. Don't worry, AWATT...I made sure that my husband wasn't being inconsiderate of the two, kind women behind him. Everytime I looked back, I tried to position him between the two and they would reassure me and say, "Don't worry...they're fine!" We realize how tall he is, even without bouncing our daughter around. Maybe bands should sell a section of tickets just for people who are over 6 feet tall.
  5. Hi everybody. Yes, little Miss Lilac Rain was the little girl from the Chapel Hill show as well as the Asheville show a couple of years ago. She's definately growing up! Thanks to everyone who gave her so much love, hugs, high fives and well wishes. She was all smiles all night! After the show, we went out to the bus because Lilac had made a hangy, glitter, spin art, star thing for "the enitre band to hang in their tour bus." Jeff was happy to see her again, really liked the gift, signed her hummingbird tote bag, and had a little conversation with her. Surprisingly, Lilac Rain was quit
  6. I once heard that Bells beer has a Bells Opener where players pay a fee and there's a different type of Bells beer to consume at every hole. I don't know if it's true or not.
  7. That's gotta be interesting to see...and smell.
  8. How do you know it was snake piss and not snake b.o.?
  9. I agree with your entire list; they all smell wonderful. Well, maybe not the sweaty men...I guess it depends on who the sweaty man is. The smell of a clean baby can't be beat. *Sigh* I sure do miss that smell. Other smells: Johnson's original pink baby lotion A fresh, fallen snow The beginning of spring A cool night in Northern Michigan campfire (I guess that would go along with burning wood) Puppy breath
  10. I thought it was made from cow shit. Go figure.
  11. Of the five senses, the sense of smell is the most powerful. It can trigger memories that you thought were lost forever. Whenever I burn Nag Champa incense, I instantly remember my favorite Dylan concert at Cobo Hall in Detroit. The scent of synthetic lemon makes me cringe because it reminds me how obsessive compulsive my mother is about cleaning and germs. Huge childhood trama...I won't even go there. Whenever I smell Este Lauder's perfume Este I think of my grandmother. And my favorite smell of all is when Lilac Rain is snuggled up to me and I smell her hair. I can't get enough of he
  12. "Simple Twist of Fate" They walked along by the old canal A little confused, I remember well... I guess I like these lines not so much for the lyrical content, but more for the twist in point of view. Is he just the narrator or is he remembering? "Buckets of Rain" [/i]Buckets of rain Buckets of tears Got all them buckets comin' out of my ears. Buckets of moonbeams in my hand, I gott all the love, honey baby, You can stand." and "Little red wagon Little red bike I ain't no monkey but I kn
  13. Sadly, Lilac Rain, the hubby and I are not going to be there. We just couldn't make it happen this time around. I didn't even tell Lilac Rain about the solo tour; I just couldn't break it to her that she couldn't go. There's always next time... Have fun in Raleigh, everyone!!! Here's to safe trips and a wonderful night of music! (btw, that's frothy lemonade )
  14. Before I left for the summer, my teaching mentor gave me her set of the series All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot. BBC turned it into a series. I've only just started, but the first few chapters were interesting.
  15. Fantastic pictures, Sarah!!! I'm so happy you had fun!
