just picked up a ticket for night 2 standing! will be flying out to dublin, getting my pints in, seeing wilco and getting back on a plane to come back to london and catch ryan and the cards at hammersmith the following day. rock & roll.
-
...or desolation row, love minus zero/no limit, she belongs to me, it's alright ma, john wesley harding, girl from the north country to name a few. this set is lame.
-
where is my london date at?
-
i'm with you on this. CR & JCN happen to be my two favourite ryan albums, very closely followed by Heartbreaker. i'm all about the cardinals, what a stellar backing band. i sure hope what ryan has been saying lately about officially becoming a cardinal stands true.

...or wish you were here for that matter, and i think many of the more hardcore floyd fans would argue that WYWH was floyd's best work (post-barrett), not dark side.

Remaining Beatles & Bandmates' Widows to Reunite.
cusacker replied to cusacker's topic in Someone Else's Song
i hope this shows up on youtube at some point, as i dont get CNN over here. -
now that's rock & roll. it would have been nice to run into one of them there so i could express my love for 'boxer'. i wonder if any members of wilco were at the national's gig at the astoria the following night? that sure was a rocking show!
-
good read, cheers for the link! i had no idea that wilco has had such an influence on the national.
-
my thoughts exactly. that and the RA box set that is due for release at the end of this year is also going to put a healthy dent in my (lack of) funds.
-
i feel for you mate, i really do. i have seen both wilco and ryan on their current tours (shepherds bush and bbc/koko respectively) and both were perhaps the best live musical experiences i have attended to date. however, the intimate/acoustic set-up with the cardinals is defnately a once in a lifetime experience. ryan has never sounded better and the song selection the cardinals are currently playing with this set-up is mind bending. the new songs are sounding great acoustic and an emotionally charged dear john/carolina rain/ blue hotel/goodnight hollywood boulevard is enough to make a man dr
-
yea, i feel bad for whoever is going to have to make that choice between seeing wilco or ryan on the release date of ET in a venue that small! mind you, tickets for that gig are going to be close to impossible to obtain...
-
unfortunatly, yes i think it is.

i see where you are coming from, and many people have given me the same response about cutting the album down to one disc, but i would be very hard pressed to cut anything off the album. MS and rosebud and fantastic songs, though I would agree that beautiful sorta and blossom are some of the weaker tracks on the album. still, as much as i love easy tiger, there appears to be more 'filler' on this album than on CR, which i think flows brilliantly despite being 2 discs. to each his own though! on a side note: i hope this dvd that graboff mentioned is being released this year is all these st

i too am a big fan of easy tiger, but you think it is more consistent than cold roses??
-
yea, he had those on when i recently saw him at the bbc and koko here in the UK. i reckon it is because he had his book of lyrics on a stand in front of him and didn't want to be too obvious that he was reading from them. he also kept taking them off inbetween songs, so i think it was just to hide himself if he needed to use the book... sounds like last night was a great show, hope everyone had a geat time! the tunes, new and old, sound incredible with the current 'acoustic' set-up, especially goodnight rose, dear john, oh my god whatever and i see monsters.
-
indeed he is, but isn't he always?!
-
haha who just saw pat throw those marracas on the floor in a fit of musical rage pat is hardcore. i love it.
