Side not/digression: My compliments to Speed Racer and Good Old Neon. It is a rare treat for me to read an argument where both sides appeal to my sense of reason to an almost equal degree.

See above post. Sorry etc.

That statement makes a lot of sense. I can relate to you there. I think where these ideas intersect with art is where things get fragmented and confusing for all of us. I suppose we can agree that some of us find those areas interesting, and others find it tedious. Maybe passionately so, since we all love rock and roll and (hopefully) the country we live in.

i.e. I don't live in Iraq. edit: sorry a bit much. but you get the idea.

Those are the best kind of lyrics to me too.

So, maybe instrumental music is more enjoyable to you?

I think you have a false dichotomy. It doesn't have to be about something as asinine as which party is right. Good music often explores history, the times. You don't need to wait on congressmen to sing about your life and your country. I think a lot of this meaning is what has enriched Wilco's music for a long time. It is part of the tunes. It's a lot of what makes them tick. Accessing those ideas and images aids in the enjoyment of them. If you choose not to dwell on a certain lyrical trope, you're at your liberty as a patron of the arts- but to suggest that rock and roll is oblige

I think being "so over" thinking of the Bush administration's wrong doing might be a bit callous. I think any American song writer is following a rich tradition when they meditate on events and the shaping of our country. The last eight years have been profound, I assume we are still digesting them and will continue to for decades. The almost mythological importance of the Reagan years as well as the Nixon years are still contemplated in cinema, art, music and literature. There is still fruit to be had in considering an era of our country's existence. I think this train of thought, which

AGIB was recorded and mixed in NY. SBS was recorded in Chicago and mixed in LA. Since they're working with Jim Scott again I bet he prefers to mix at some swanky LA studio. I can see him 'slumming it' at the Loft, or in New Zealand but after that- back to Hollywood.

Thanks, you are the math expert I was looking for. So everyone can be their own individual Wilco fanatic, well they're all one in seven hundred and twenty.
-
As much as this fan-boy hierarchy is easy to mock with a trick question (chronology). I bet the amount of combinations you can have would make for a lot of different Wilco fans. I'm not a math man but I know there's some formula for different sequences of six. I feel like I'm the only one with this: AGIB YHF BT SBS ST AM

Maybe "standout" like a soar thumb? I am not worried about this album. It will probably rule.

JULES! This is what I was talking about...... now you know I'm not crazy.

I'll take it. I seem to remember people saying "Dude I've heard like three songs that might never be on the album, or might sound totally different when they are, and I think the new album is gonna stink." But, I'll reset to believing I assumed, or misunderstood someone. We are all united in positivity.

Show them this.

I don't really want to search, cause I wasn't into reading them in the first place. Scroll through any thread on the new record. You'll find em.

Says the guy who is named Wilco LP#7, who has posted many negative expectations for the next record. I think sometimes fandom is actually a detriment for listening to music. I like that you're trying not to think what it will sound like, but that's kind of like trying not to imagine a painting you've never seen or trying not to imagine a city you've never been to. Sometimes, you just gotta relax and listen to music (I think this is what you're saying anyways).

I agree with those two statements. The last one, more than anything posted on here. For this reason, I inherently disagree with any 'conclusive' attitude toward the situation. I have a preference, and it is the Swedish model. That doesn't for a moment keep me from taking your cautionary attitude to heart. Any measure- even the best, is risky. We are living in volatile times.

Zing. The projects encompass much, more than transportation (which does impact the way goods are moved, and the people are moved to the goods and services, and the environmental impact and financial impact their travel has). There is about to be a historic investment in a diverse portfolio of locally grown, owned and innovated energy. Meanwhile broadband is soon to be expanded, bringing clerical efficiency (especially in the medical fields) with it. Again, the stimulus package is not one hundred percent perfect. It has flaws. Obama is not the messiah. He has flaws. But the core thinki

I agree with your comment concerning American inefficiency. I have been a strong critic of the foibles of the U.S. auto-industry, and then share-holder driven tom foolery that helped cause them. I also agree that funneling public money into executives pockets does not help. That is not a very clear picture of the stimulus package as I understand it. It is most likely a very nasty side-effect of it. Sort of, as Barney Frank put it "Collateral benefit." Normally we call it damage, but its doing what we need to be doing, and unfortunately it benefits some real jerks. Meanwhile, there is

If we were to just let business 'sort itself out' every major bank would close. We all know what happened last time the government sat around and let banks close. The idea missing from the last back and forth about the stimulus, I think is this: Capital, or money is not fixed. If you try to make a fulcrum model where haves are going up and have-nots are going down a proportionate amount, you have an inaccurate picture. The same can go for the relationship between wealth and goods and services. It is wise to be cautious of creating a bubble (toxic assets, adjustable rate mortgages etc)

Holy shit balls!!! This is a remarkable discovery. I have to admit, when I read the first post that mentioned it I thought someone was taking the piss. Wow. I've never heard Jeff Tweedy sing a duet with a girl.

Yeah Monster is my pre-spring jam. Feels like spring, bounces like spring. How about that warm weather.
