Re: no one can accurately guess what the album will sound like. The only thing we do know is one Wilco album has never sounded all that much like its predecessor.

Let me take this one: if I liked Blu Ray, and had never heard Wilco, I would by their Blu Ray movie so I would hear them and stop being such a freaking loser. The same applies to any other format they have releases on. High five?

But HD tv looks like a DVD. Blu Ray's merits are only visible to those with massive and expensive tv sets, and to them the improvement is a mere subtlety. At least that's what a specialist on NPR told me. I don't mean to be a Luddite, but come on.... 24-bit cd's, blu ray dvds? Some of these new formats seem like little more than cash cows to me. Excuse the rant. Yeah Wilco, put out a new DVD! Wooh!

The bass playing shines on vinyl in a way the cd didn't capture. It's a great album to listen to on vinyl if you don't mind the work of changing for the four sides it spans.

Awesome. That was an interesting twist on "Monday" made me feel better that it is 1/13th of the setlist. I think I see now what they meant about getting the 'feeling' of a live show in. Way to go Brendan Canty!

I actually prefer this. 13 songs of live rockin is good enough. I always find the 'behind the scenes' material from music documentaries to be more interesting. Maybe if I hadn't seen the band four times live my attitude might be different.

I love it. It is not my favorite of theirs but I love it. There are things about it that I like more than Summerteeth. I would say I like most of the "weak" songs listed above less, but I still enjoy them. Except, I actually think "Leave Me Like You Found Me" is really pretty. It is the perfect song (album?) for driving on a winter morning. I bet the new one will trump it though. We'll know in a few months.

I am an audio engineer and a lover of microphones, so I can't stop wondering this. The past couple times I've seen Wilco and in all the recent photos they have very distinctive looking microphones on the guitar cabinets. They have that kind of rounded- oversized egg shape like a lot of kick drum mics have, only a bit smaller. I haven't found a good enough picture to share, but if you're a mic geek and know what I mean, see if you can figure it out.

Man, Google needs to hire Brendan Canty and Christoph Green as photographers. They do a much better job.

They've been quiet about it. There was the word about a February/March release date and that was it. I'm guessing we don't get it until early March at the earliest. I can imagine some kind of cover art/packaging or other technicality is being ironed out. Unless I missed something. I would think a release date and cover art would spread pretty quick through the web.

Of all the tracks on the disc with the exception of the alternate "Hummingbird" it is more of a regular song. Most of the other material is jams and improvisations. That "Diamond Claw" is pretty slick though. Someone ought to use that song for an eccentric HBO series.
