Checked again. Still nothing. Maybe there's technical difficulties. -

This is supposed to be up. Dang, if I knew they were going to be late with it I would have slept in more. -
I love it. It is not my favorite of theirs but I love it. There are things about it that I like more than Summerteeth. I would say I like most of the "weak" songs listed above less, but I still enjoy them. Except, I actually think "Leave Me Like You Found Me" is really pretty. It is the perfect song (album?) for driving on a winter morning. I bet the new one will trump it though. We'll know in a few months.

Nels Cline: edit: crap someone already did this. I have no original bones in my body.

If that song is straight up James Brown, than Sublime is straight up Jimmy Cliff. Kind of a stretch. But I digress.
-
I still really need to hear this. My awesome girlfriend got us tickets to his show coming up.

... it's like telling your friend to get back in an abusive relationship with an ex they have no interest in anymore.

Oh I think I found it. Shure Beta56. Say yeah if you agree. I don't do live sound so a lot of those mics are unfamiliar to me.

I am an audio engineer and a lover of microphones, so I can't stop wondering this. The past couple times I've seen Wilco and in all the recent photos they have very distinctive looking microphones on the guitar cabinets. They have that kind of rounded- oversized egg shape like a lot of kick drum mics have, only a bit smaller. I haven't found a good enough picture to share, but if you're a mic geek and know what I mean, see if you can figure it out.

Man, Google needs to hire Brendan Canty and Christoph Green as photographers. They do a much better job.

Worst Zep song ever. In another news, DVD cover looks fucking awesome. Hope a trailer pops up on that site soon.

No, not you. Zebra. It's a weird image shack screen shot. That looks like some spy shit- someone hacked Tony Margherita's laptop.
-
Where the hell did you find that?

They've been quiet about it. There was the word about a February/March release date and that was it. I'm guessing we don't get it until early March at the earliest. I can imagine some kind of cover art/packaging or other technicality is being ironed out. Unless I missed something. I would think a release date and cover art would spread pretty quick through the web.

Thanks!

Hey all new tunes and a video up on my bands muh-space. Check it out. Feedback is encouraged. Big Timber myspace

Of all the tracks on the disc with the exception of the alternate "Hummingbird" it is more of a regular song. Most of the other material is jams and improvisations. That "Diamond Claw" is pretty slick though. Someone ought to use that song for an eccentric HBO series.

It's funny. That recording seems to split people. I love it. That and High Heat (which is in a similar vein) are probably my favorite B-Sides. Its got such a cool tension and atmosphere. Oh well, one man's trash....

I just remembered a song he put out years ago, I think called "Automatic Rifle". Fucking amazing. The heaviest thing I ever heard him do. The song is a narrative about militance, and terrorists. Brutal song, really well written.

Rocky has always struck me as good, almost great. He never crosses over into great, but he's always good. Waxwing, occasionally reached moments of beauty. Especially to my 18 year old ears when I got into them. That Makers album came out really well. I got to share the stage with him years and years ago. One of the nicest dudes in rock and roll for sure.

Outlaw Pete is fucking awful. It would only be mediocre, but he draws it out so long, and that damn string section. Horrible. After that anything on the album sounds pretty decent. But, it's all fairly mediocre compared to Magic. Bad lyrics, super trite. Very Americana Scrabble, cut and paste rustic image-stuff going on.

Does anyone else find it pretty hot to hear Neko sing "I'm a man eater." I know she might be talking about a whale, but I just keep picturing her, with that sword. Yeesh.

Neko Case might be a genius..... I'm excited.
