Check out tapeop.com for the magazine and the forum. Smart people, nice community. I would recommend waiting until you come to a more specific issue you're looking for help on. A post on home recording tips is something like asking what wilco is like on the just a fan forum.

It sounds like he has recreated the fresh, live kind of vibe that fed into the last albums writing. Good thing in my book, he's on a better roll right now than he's been on since I was three years old.

Now there's a fine role model.

This has been good, but it's off topic. Please join me in my new thread where I will ask if any insiders know secrets about the new Wilco record.

Very true. Good point. We live in an age of unprecedented access.

And nine months later your curiosity is returned with more drubbing. I still insist that a forum is not a historical record but a place for conversations. I eagerly looked into your post hoping that someone who knew anything extra, that might not have felt like using the search function, would use your renewal of the conversation as a prompt to share. Oh well, I guess no one has much new info about the album, pretty under wraps, still in the process etc. I think I'll forget about it for at least a month and a half and maybe by then some news will emerge that everyone can really discuss.

Wild rumors. We have no photographic evidence to support that.

I peeked at Wilco World today to see if there was any news up and the home page had a new picture of the mic setup on the drum kit at the loft. Unfortunately reloading the page is a random mix of photos and that was it. Later on I checked back and saw a picture of Pat lounging in the listening area. Now if we could only hear what he's hearing. Hope to see more of this stuff.

Agreed. The production sounds yucky. I don't just blame the pro tools, it's the way that it was used and mixed. Especially the first track... yuck. Otherwise I think the album contains five or six of Wilco's best songs. Nonetheless, AM is the only album below it in my Wilco scale of awesome. A mixed bag indeed.

Hold on just one damn minute...

What is important to me was his victory speech. He did not boast. The man has humility. There was nothing in his tone to suggest that he has a prideful sense of having taken over the country and now everything=better. Instead he continues to push forward and urge all of us to lean our weight into fixing this country. Very FDR. I can not recall a victory speech that was as urgent and motivated. If that can't excite the McCain crowd I'm not sure what will. -
Congrats to President-Elect OBAMA

I saw that. Now it's getting embarassing. There's gonna be an attack ad saying: "Who is Barak Obama? You may not know, but he has an Aunt living illegally in the United States. Is that who you want running your country?" -
Any guesses as to what they will play tonight?

Holy crap. If they're gonna toss a song like that off for a show they really must have an embarrassment of riches. I think there are gonna be some happy Wilco fans in 09. -
Congrats to President-Elect OBAMA

Obama on the Bradley Effect: "I don't think white voters have gotten the memo on this 'Bradley Effect'." -
Congrats to President-Elect OBAMA

Do you think a University would put Palin, McCain, or Biden in charge of lecturing students on the topic? -
I think it's weak, but I hope I don't share that info in a way that makes people on here hate me. I like talking to yall more than I dislike AM.

I think the biggest relief to all of those middle of the road and conservative folks out there watching the Obama campaign poised to score a win is this: Obama has a superior and more nuanced understanding of the constitution and constitutional law than any other person that has been involved in the election, if not the primaries. -
Another new Wilco song inside from Bridge School

The one from the 25th sounds like if Eric Burdon wrote one of the tunes for Mermaid Ave. -
People that believe in the Anti-Christ need to take a bible history course. I hope that fiscal conservatism can rescue itself from the tethers of relgio-stupidity. Not because I am a fiscal conservative, but because I find it to be an intellectually responsible perspective that is opposite to my own. It levels things off. If you wanna talk anti-christ and prayer in public school than the debate just got dumber, we're learning less and the country can't improve. Maybe the end of the Bush administration and the lame duck that has been the McCain campaign will be the end of an era and the r

For sure. I have a regressively juvenile record collecting habit. I have never heard an album that sounds and feels quite like SBS. It is not hugely original yet its completely one of a kind.

I'm glad someone mentioned them. But you'd go with that more than Crown of the Valley- Orange Rhyming Dictionary? What about Margaret Vs. Pauline- Fox Confessor

Excuse me. I can only be lead to believe that we will all have acquired much more knowledge on this topic in approximately two months time. Watching the Lollapalooza footage of it helps show it's potential a lot more than listening to some of the other bootlegs. Pretty sweet. But again, we're putting a lot of pressure on one song.

I predict/pray that Sara is going the way of the Pog.

Decibles Per Minute, has anyone ever got a hold of this?

This comes up from time to time. A lot of the tracks from what would have been the dbPM album were put in the Wilco Book. Lots of improvisations and other unusual studio exercises. I bet Analogman has a link to a thread about this.
