Probably doubtful again. Last I heard Jim was still busy w/ film stuff in Japan and oh so slowly finishing off some new solo ideas. I suppose that doesn't take it completely out of the realm of possibility. I bet we'll all know a lot more about all of this in like two months.

I reiterate: we know nothing. The band still might not know what it's going to sound like in the end. I just hope they're working with TJ Doherty again.

I can already start to see the way the McCain campaign can be looked at through the backwards lens of history: A shocking, somewhat random choice of a female evangelist for the VP that backfired. In fighting in his campaign base. Negative tone. Erratic behavior, often changing stances on the same day. He and his campaign have put a lot of info out their for voters to judge -and you don't need to think as critically as most people on here do- to gather that he's a sinking ship. All the more reason if some mutant future happens where he wins, we're in deep doo-doo.

Have you been performing? That can help. Have you bought any albums that you hadn't heard before that are knocking your socks off? That can help.

I've heard McCain is mounting his own polling ethics committee. In each of his 13 houses a plumber named Joe will be stationed with a database on a supercomputer. There is: Joe Calipelli- New Hampshire Joe Blow- Western PA Joe "Lame Duck" Koffman- Indiana Joe "Double Wide" Lake- WY Joe "Six Pack" Montgomery- NV Corrections Facility The remaining eight Joes have yet to be picked. Hopefuls are still having a 'mini-primary' which includes Rotor-Rooter, and Cruller consumption. The swimsuit contest is on hold for weather issues.

I should have been there. I bet right about this time I was eating a piece of toast over the sink and looking out the window. Shit!

The new RS has Obama on the cover. They devoted a paragraph towards the beginning to Wilco recording a new record. There's a great quote from Nels Cline about their wealth of material. If there's any subscribers I'd love you to share it, I don't want to misquote.

I find it and New Morning to be like his last few albums. Proof that a genius who fell from grace can still make good stuff. I don't get much more than that out of it. Interesting story about Joni. I think Court and Spark was where her material started going downhill, and Planet Waves is where Dylan made a bit of a comeback. Weird.

I thought We All Belong had a bit more staying power than Fate. They are both instantaneously delightful listens.

I think, (maybe hope) with all the work the Burn to Shine crew did on the spring tours that they're sitting on it in order to add to it. What if they have been filming all the recording sessions that have been going on this month and will film so more shows to do a major Wilco DVD that has live performances, studio footage, and docu stuff. Man. That should happen. I hope it's happening. Someone call Brendan Canty and ask him.

Wow that's not an obvious one. Do you even like music? How about side one track one of Beethoven's fifth symphony?

But look at what kind of society the federal government has to manage now. There are logistic elements that are much more complex. There are many theoretical forms of government that can work effectively over a population of a certain size. Anarchism, or more simply a total egalitarian system can work pretty well in a band of a couple dozen people living together. It breaks down once the population increases, and they are exchanging money and so on. I don't mean to say that Libertarianism is as extreme as anarchism, it is just an example.
-
I find the Libertarian agenda to be nothing more than a more fair and even-handed application of Reagan-nomics. Preserving peoples freedom and reducing the size of the government significantly sounds just fine. But, as with Libertarian's more unrealistic and aggressive cousin (the Anarchist) I think the potential for very negative effects is there.

This goes back to how ignorant and callous Palin was when she challenged Biden's assertion that tax paying is patriotic. Of course it is.

Yes I-Pod. No bucket. If you drive a car..... if you live in a house with a stereo system and want to hear your I-pod in those places you can hook it up to both after investing some twenty odd dollars on cables. Unless you have no tape deck in your car. Then it's more expensive. But not as expensive as those damn bucket stealers. Now if you're at a bar/grill situation I find the bucket adds a festive mood to beer drinking.

And the great storytellers of our neighborhoods. The ones who approach and say "Scuze me can I axe you a question? My brother in law left my car outta gas with my kids in Lafayette and I just need like 13 dollers to find my shoes for the bus and save my kids....."

Wait, Colbert has never had live music performances on his show has he?

Tina Fey makes Sarah Palin seem sexier than she is.

So very awesome.

I delivered my mail in ballott by hand today. Felt really good. I didn't walk away until I saw it placed in the locked box. Just feels important. My girlfriend's dad says he copied his mail-in ballot so he can frame it and show his grandkids after the election. History.

New Deerhoof and Sterolab albums are both superb. I love when new music is good!
